Alright, here's the story. 54 Chevy with shaved door handles. Using an Avital 4103 to remote start vehicle. Trunk/Channel 2 is not used. Lock button is connected to relay to pop the Driver's side door. Unlock button is connected to relay to pop the Passenger's side door.

As I found out, the Lock/Arm button will only actually output once....until the Unlock/Disarm button is pressed. Obviously this is very inconvenient. Popping the Passenger's side door before being able to pop the Driver's side door won't work out. The unlock button will actually output multiple times, no need to lock doors before unlocking. Obviously, the easy way out would be to use the trunk/Channel 2 and the unlock buttons for the door poppers. But I'd like to be able to use the lock button since they are right next to each other. Lock button is on the left, unlock button is on the right...makes it simple. Also, the trunk output you have to hold 1.5 seconds before it will output...not so convenient.

So, is there a way to "disarm" the system every time it is locked "armed"? In other words, can the lock button be setup to output more than once. I'm thinking it would have to be a circuit board level modification....which I am more than qualified for. Haven't opened it up yet.

Looking for ideas or possibly some info from someone who has done this before.

If you press and hold the unlock button, does the alarm just pulse the passenger solenoid? Or will it keep it active as long as you are holding the button? If there is output as long as the button is depressed, you could use a resistor and a capacitor to slightly delay the energizing of the relay. Touch it briefly and it will disarm the alarm but not open the door. Press and hold it and it will open the door.

I used an older python security system for mine. It was a 4 door cavalier with shaved handles. Lock only armed the system. I used priority unlock. First press of unlock disarmed and popped driver door. The second press popped passenger front door. Then I used aux's for the rear doors. My only gripe is if the driver door didn't pop first try I had to pop passenger door then try the driver door again.

This was my first thoght of a solution. Lock is only for arming, unlock once for drivers, twice for passenger. You could also use an aux output wired to passenger also incase you don't want to open the drivers first and the alarm is already unarmed...

It won't be a hardware modification it would be a firmware modification. The remote is sending the signal every time you push the button, the reciever is just ignoring it. If you have a second programed remote you could hardwire the disarm button through the contacts of a relay that is fired by the door lock output. Of course this will cause your passenger door to open any time you open the drivers door so you would have to use another relay to prevent the passenger door from opening.

Seems easier to just get another system that works the way you want.... :)

When the unlock button is pressed, it just pulses it...it is not a validity output and cannot be programmed with bitwriter as one...only pulse length and 1 or 2 pulse.

There is no 2nd unlock on this module.

Anyways, I took the easy way out. Boss said it had to be done by 5PM. So I hooked the driver's side door up to the unlock button and the passenger's side door up to the trunk/aux button. At least it works.
