Do the new Viper systems still automatically lock the doors when you start the vehicle with a key?  Can you disable it?  I locked myself out of my '99 Sierra I had a few years ago that had a Viper system because I started the truck with the key and forgot to wait the few seconds before closing the door.  Not handy when you're 400 miles from home where the spare key is.  There is a reason why the factory programs the door locks to lock at a certain speed...

Do the other Remote Starter Manufacturers do the same thing?  My currrent Command Start CS-310 that I'm wanting to swap out does not.  Thanks for the help!

actually none of the new Viper units have that feature by default... you have to specifically program it to do so....

Awesome, that is great to hear.  That would be the one thing stopping me from getting the 5901 or 5902.  It is kind of redundant with most vehicles doing that automatically nowadays.

You shouldn't let that stop you, you could always program it off!

Yeah, I wanted to make sure I was able to disable it if it still did that.

I had programmed the ignition controlled lock and unlock on my car to be on. I recently found out it's not a very good feature to turn on...posted_image

Was cleaning off some snow on my car, had remote started the car at first. Then I had put the key in to turn it on and closed the door. Shortly after, the doors locked. Luckily I had spare keys laying around (not for my car) and a spare vehicle. Had to travel 26 miles round trip to get the spare keys for my car.
Lesson learned.

A friend/co-worker of mine recently did this as well...they were actually delivering the vehicle to the customer (had some work done to it, we did not do the alarm install). Had to use the slim jim to get in the car.

I will never program ignition controlled locks to be on anymore...unless customer specifically requests it of course, and understands the consequences.posted_image

Igniton controlled locking will not initialize on vipers unless the vehicle is started with all doors closed, so something is obviously wrong with the above statement if it is he's reffering to viper! I've done it for years without a problem!

Except one time a customer putting his hand through the window and started the car from outside with all the doors closed, and then used the express up on his driver window, lol, that's the only incident, but that was totally his fault!
