I ordered the Viper 5902, and in my car setup for a dodge 99 grand garavan it shows if the alarm doesnt have relays built in for the car door locks that you need to add a 778 relay, pretty much 2 5 pin relays, but I was wondering because a few people acted like it had the built in relay in the device, being a 451 lock module I believe, because then I just have the wires hook up straight with a resistor on each for the correct amount to fire into the single wire. Thanks

i have picked up the 5301, 5701 and looked inside the box of the 5901/2 but never say any of them shipped with the 451m door lock module.

99 Caravan with factory locks doesn't need relays for locks. When you press the button on the door you will hear the factory relays clicking under the dash. You can simply trigger these with a negative pulse off your Viper. There are 3 relays, one lock, one drivers unlock, one all other unlock.

really? all the vipers I've installed come with the 451m, including the 5101, 5301, 5701, etf.

They could be. I know the units I install definitely come with them. I've got a stack of about 20 451m's left over lol. They do come in handy, tho.

Mike is right in the sense the unit gives off (-) and the car requires a (-) trigger toactivate factory relays, HOWEVER, you still need to use 2 relays and wire them with a resistor. The only reason you want to use a relay is to ensure that lock/unlock wire gets a high current ground source.

now i am even more confused, so your saying I do not need a relay at all? well I ordered a crap load of them just in case, ha ha, I do hear a clicking noise when I do the lock like the sound of a relay, but I do not really know what is the correct answer here, my van just says if the security system has a relay then you do not need it, if it doesnt then you do need it

People had so many problems with the early Cat 1 Concept 650s over here that they started packing 451s into the box! Those flip flop locks are a pain. Just out of interest I wonder how many revisions there have been on the 5901?

for ever source of power coming out of the 12v wire from the steering column, do I need to put a fuse on each one? I know its already fused before it gets to the column, but the instructions say to fuse everything coming off of a 12v source

yes, fues everything accordingly.

you will need 2 relays for the lock/unlock.

Howie, not sure how many revision there are on th3 5901, but my friend that owns a shop just received his third shipment of supposedly "updated" brains/remotes.
