Hi guys I'm trying to wire a Viper 5901 in my 1995 Pontiac Firebird. I found the door triggers and hatch trigger. However the door and hatch triggers are separate from each other. To wire them to the door trigger input of the alarm I will have to splice two wires, one for the door triggers and one for the hatch trigger.

I'm assuming I will have problems just connecting the two wires together, so will I have to install diodes on the wires before wiring them to the alarm so they don't interfere with each other? If so, what kind of diodes will I need and any tips on wiring them or other ideas would be really appreciated..

I guess that's how I need to wire all the triggers.

Anyone know the difference between the 1N4003 and the 1N4001 diodes? Can I use only the 1N4001 diodes?

you can use and 1N400x diodes.

x can be any number ranging from 1 - 4

The 5901 has inputs for BOTH doors and Hatch/Trunk. Wiring harness H1 pins 6 (+) Violet & 8 (-) Green depending on the vehicle polarity. The hatch/trunk is pin 7 (-) Blue. The hood pin switch for the remote start also doubles as a hood trigger for the alarm.

Thanks monty that's what I decided to do. Instead of running diodes I just ran the trunk release to negative instant trigger pin and the doors to the negative door pin.
