Subject: remote start relay defective?

Installed my new Valet remote start in my 98 blazer. Everything went well to when I went to start it and I got check engine light. Looked up the codes and they had to do with transmission not getting the "ON" message, which would be the second ignition wire (white wire) not getting power. Well, I thought that couldnt be true, so I ran test light coming from the Heavy gauge relay box (XCMS 500M) and the 2nd igniton wire (pink/white) and it was not sending power. now, is this a defective item, or am I doing something wrong? I ordered another relay module just in case, but it should be sending power. I even hooked up the aux wire (orange) to the second ignition to see if it would take care of the check engine light after i cleared it and it did. Never came back up, but than I dont have my heater/AC working (kinda ruins the whole pupose of having a remote start. Any imput? Thanks!

make sure you have the multiple constant 12v lines powered up. on the DEi units, there are 3 for rs portion and 1 for the alarm.

You don't mention which Valet unit you have. If it is the unit with the external relay pack you need to hook up all three heavy reds/red-whites otherwise some outputs will not work.

yes, there is a third 12 volt constant wire. Would be the RED / white. So that would probably be my issue? dang, And I was thinkin at first that I might run into problems if I didnt hook up that wire. (valet 562t) Well, I will do that, thanks so much! dumb move on my part, haha.

WIRE UP 2nd. IGNITION, that's what's causing it to come on. What's a Blazer? The only reason I'm answering this from my side of the pond is that this is one of those topics that keeps coming up on GM product (whatever that was) and I was discussing it the other night with the Wallace person.

read the first post. I did wire up the second ignition. The sperate relay box that came with the valet system has heavy gauge wires and I did hook up the second ignition, But it was not sending out 12+ so for some reason it wasnt getting power. Im gonna hook up the third constant wire (in which i should have in the first place.) and see if the fix is good.

It worked. Finally happy. Quick question just to see if anyone knows. I have the wiring diagram for my 98 blazer and when I hooked it up to the parking light wires, it does flash the parking lights, but it also lights up the dash lights in side. now, It would be fine if the parking lights stayed on so that the dash lights just stayed on, but it flashes the parking lights and also turns the dashlights on and off, which to me would be kinda hard on them to always be on and off. Any input on this? Again, I have a Valet 562T. doorlocks and horn honk work. Also its nice that my blazer finally locks when i start it and unlock when its off. all my older vehicles did that but oddly my newest vehicle did not. Thanks again!

when parkinglights flash, the dashboard/cluster lights will flash as well.

You should be able to select constant or flashing parking lights during remote start in the program menu. Is this what you are referring to?

ok, thanks for lettin me know. learn somethin new by that. yea, looked at menu for programing for it but it didnt show a key combo or valet switch program for the feature (showed it could be changed tho) so Im guessing I have to use a bitwriter programmer to do it. Kinda dumb but oh well.
