i have a clifford ace 2000 alarm for my car and the ground wire from the alarm fell off of the battery for a couple of hours ( i was at work.) i wired the ground back up and now the alarm does
not work at all now.

i already checked/replaced the fuses, tried disconnecting the brain for a while, also tried unlocking and locking the doors manually with my key.

a strange thing that happens is when i press the star button on the remote ( there are 3 buttons a star, lock/unlock, truck release) the doors will lock and the lights on the car will flash and it will only do this once, i have to put the ignition to on and then off in order for it to do this again. But when i press the unlock/lock button nothing happens?

Try reprogramming your remotes, BTW do you have any idea how OLD this unit is?

i tried to add a new remote, i didnt try buying a new remote though because the current one does work or at least i think it does because the alarm is responding to it when i press the star button.
i dont know how old it is, it was in my car when i bought it and it worked until the ground got disconnected.

the car is a 91 toyota mr2 if that helps.

Try pulling all the alarm fuses, leave off for 10 mins then reconnect.
Try to reprogramme your remote and add a new battery to the remote.    If that doesn't work throw away!

i was messing with the alarm, trying to get it to work again and discovered that when i program a secondary remote (using my original remote but programming it as a secondry) the arm/disarm button does what the star button did when the remote was programmed as my primary remote. also i realized the autolock and unlock (when you turn the key to on and off) works.
the only thing that does not work is the arm/disarm from remote?
i know the siren also works because when im programming the alarm it chrips.

if all else fails and i cant get this alarm to work are there any alarms that this harness will fit into without any new wiring?

No that would be Generation 1 and they've changed looms, plugs and wire colours at least 3 times in the last 19 years now preparing G6!
