Hello,

I just purchased a 2002 Ford Excursion Diesel that currently has a CA 510a installed. My question, is there an alarm that can be integrated? Or must I remove the Code Alarm and have a new alarm/remote start installed.

Thanks,
Anthony

You have basically three choices:

1. Remove what you have and install an alarm/starter combo.

2. Install a standalone alarm with separate remotes....but this would be a pain, as you'd have to use one remote to start the truck, and the other to lock and unlock it.

3. Install an "add-on" alarm that doesn't have its own remotes....like Audiovox PRO-9233, Automate AM1, or similar. The alarm will disarm when you lock with the code alarm remote, and disarm when you unlock.

Both #2 and #3 require a little more labor than usual, for things such as finding a way to disable the alarm's shock sensor when the engine is running.

Basically, unless you're doing this yourself, you'll probably want to price out #1 and #3 with a couple of local shops, and then make your decision after getting some pricing.

Also keep in mind that doing #1 means that everything will (or at least should!) have a guarantee, since you'll know who installed everything.
