The only additional feature I would like to wire into my Viper 5101 is the rear defogger. I would like to wire it up as an AUX 1 output  since I only want it to come on when I want it to.

By looking at the factory wiring diagram, it appears as if there is a violet/black relay control wire @ pin 6 of the A/C - heater control. When the rear defogger button is press, the violet/black wire it put to ground momentarily, this triggering the defogger relay. I think if I pulse this wire with the AUX 1 output the rear defogger will function as intented.

Can anybody confirm this?

To activate the rear defrost you will also need to power the second acc. (blk/wht)

Why not just hook it up to the blue/white, so it ONLY goes on whenever the temperature is less than 32 degrees F? That way you don't have to keep pressing buttons.

"To activate the rear defrost you will also need to power the second acc. (blk/wht)"

Aready, done. :D

"Why not just hook it up to the blue/white, so it ONLY goes on whenever the temperature is less than 32 degrees F? That way you don't have to keep pressing buttons."

I didn't realize that when you program the brain to use the blue/white wire as a defogger it would only come on if it's below 32*. Good to know.

With that said though, just because it's below 32* doesn't necessarily mean the rear defogger is needed. In fact, during the winter here its below 32* most of the time.

Thanks for the input!

Just in case anyone ever references this post, it works just as stated above. Pulsing the violet/black wire to ground momentarily activates the rear defogger circuit, and then pulsing it a seond time deactivate the circiut.
