how can i disable the auto lock/unlock on this unit? i have it installed in an 05 trailblazer and the truck already locks/unlocks on its own. it says you can do it in the owners manual, but doesnt tell you HOW.

programming options

Programming options control your system's normal, operational

set-up. Most options do not require additional parts, but some may

require additional installation labor. This system's programming

options are listed below, with the factory default settings in bold:

Ignition switch-controlled door-locking on or off. With this

feature on, the doors will lock 3 seconds after the ignition

key is turned on, and unlock when the ignition key is turned

off.

also whats up with the range on this? any way to get the range a little bet further?

Is the antenna located on the brain...If so...Try moving the brain to different locations and see if range increases...Also...replace the battery in the remote...If it is an external antenna...Go with a windshield mount, right around the mirror(just below tint if possible...!)

1. Go into programming, and set the "ignition controlled unlocking" and "ignition controlled locking" both to OFF.

2. If it's a basic keyless entry, it's not made to have much range, as it's generally not needed.

However, you can make some improvement by being sure the antenna wire coming out of the brain is straght and not curled up. You can tape the antenna wire to anything that's rigid and non-metal....I use the scrap pieces of zip ties from my install that I was going to throw in the trash anyway.

I don't think there's any information about whether the antenna should be vertical or horizontal---you should probably try it both ways.

You might see some improvement by moving the unit up higher, maybe underneath the top of the dashboard.....above the radio or above the instrument cluster. That way, there's less metal to interfere.

If none of that is enough, DEI used to sell a range-extender antenna you could mount on the windshield, although they may not be easy to find. Look at the bottom of this page:

https://www.junik.lv/~meg/new/pagers.htm

Also, I'm sure you already thought of this, but a remote starter/keyless entry system would have only cost a little more money than just keyless, and any name-brand unit should have plenty of range.
