I have a Remote start Prestige APS57A on my van Mercury Villager 1995.

One time the battery died for an unknown reason and from that time it has stopped working,

What could be the problem?

Please help me!!!

Thank You!

Pavel.

Do you mean the battery in the van or the remote?

pull the fuse from the unit for 1 minute, place fuse back in, cycle igniton 1 time and see if it works.

if not its time to reprogram the remotes.

Hello,

I tried doing this but it didn't work. When I try to program unit, vaild switch doesn't work(respond).

Maybe I have a problem with the unit.

Is it possible to check it?

You'll need a test light or multimeter, and the ability to use it correctly.

You can find the install manual here, which should be helpful:

https://mobile.audiovox.com/audiovox/AudiovoxInfo.do?findManual=aps57

Anyway, you'll want to test the following:

1. At the heavy-gauge 6-pin plug, do the red and RED / white wires have power all the time?

2. At the heavy-gauge 6-pin plug, does the blue wire have power whenever the key is in the On and Start positions?

3. At that other big plug on the side of the brain, does the black wire have ground?

Other things to look at:

1. Is the valet switch plugged in, and does the cable going to it appear to be good? (Hint: you can test the small gray wire where it goes into the brain---it should have a ground only when you're pressing the button.

2. Does the antenna and antenna cable look good, and not cut or ripped open?

Was the windshield in the van recently replaced? Sometimes the windshield guys cut the antenna cable by accident.

I fully agree with everything Chris mentioned.

In addition, I would check all 3 fuses in the unit; one in the red wire and one in the RED / white stripe  wire, both going to the ignition harness (Power for the

unit), as well as the fuse in the thick WHITE/ black stripe wire (parking light input power).  The APS57a has no horn output, so the parking lights

and the PB Switch LED are the only feedback to the user.  The villager uses positive (i.e., 12V input on the WHITE/ Red wire)  parking lights, so confirming

the input to the RED / white wire has power as well as the fuse being good are important.

As I have learned from previous posts (Thanks Chris!),  Autozone has a remote tester at their battery display.  If all else looks good,  you can test your

remotes to make sure they are working.
