I have a 95 chevy caprice. It has a code alarm ca425 alarm that came with it when I bought the car in 2005. My car used to start with the remote start but it quit working. It also made my ignition thru the key quit working, so I can't start my car with my key now. I don't know what happened. Can anyone help me out?
You have a chip half way down your key...right...? Is the car not turning over(cranking)...Or cranking and not starting...? If it's not starting...You will need to drop the dash and find an orange loom coming from the key cylinder...You need to see if there is a bypass or they just put a resistor in-line that orange lead...Just follow this orange lead and see where it goes...It will stand out, with two wires inside of orange coating/insulation......Although i have seen my share of bad starters...So dont overlook that possibility...! Also, did the key and the remote start stop working at the same time...? If you have a friend...You can have him tap the starter while you try to start...If you have a DMM...There are some other things you can do... Here is a link for the install manual of that unit...

When I bought the car it didn't have or start with orignal key. I have always used the door key. I don't know what they did to it, for it to run without the chip. When I turn the key on the dash lights come on and when I go to crank it over, Nothing happens. I used to start it with the auto start every morning, then everything quit working one day. So now I have a push button installed directly to my starter. Any ideas. Also when I turn any of my headlights on my speedometer goes away and the dash lights don't come on any ideas on that
You can simply bypass the resistor key by cutting the mentioned "orange" loom and inserting a resistor...I'm kinda confused...You have been using a push-button start the whole time...? Don't follow the door key thing either...? You will need to test the push-button starter wire...Then test some fuses...Are you able to test these wires in the link provided(DO YOU have a meter/test light...?)...? Here are the colors to the car's wiring...Check the ignition harness...Then connection of the push-button...Maybe I'll have some clearer thoughts once the coffee kicks in...But i think you are now in the realm of testing these suspected wires to see if they have output,power.etc...
