Ok here goes.... First off I'm no rookie when it comes to remote start, alarm, security, sound systems... I was an installer for years at a professional shop. And I have read and read on this topic before and I'm still unable to figure this out... With that out of the way, here goes...
I recently purchased an Aftermarket Generation AGA-1201 Remote Start, Keyless Entry, Alarm system.. (https://aftermarketgeneration.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=23_80&products_id=32)
All of the wiring seems fairly easy on this unit. Pretty straight forward. The problem I'm running into is the door locks. I've read all over this forum that the door luck and unlock work on a negative pulse. I pulled the door panel and found the ORANGE / Purple wire at the door lock harness, I probed the wire to check the polarity. At rest, I have a negative reading. When I press the door lock button, I get a positive reading. Same thing goes for the door unluck on the Pink/Black wire.
So my question is this, are my doors somehow reversed from everything I've read on here?? My alarm has the option to have either Negative or Positive output for the door locks. I just don't want to hook up the wrong polarity and mess my alarm system up. To prove that my alarm has the option for either output I've included part of the install manual concerning the locks:
Pin3: Violet: Unlock #87a Normally Closed
Pin 4: Blue/Black: Unlock #30 Common (Output)
Pin 5: Brown Black: Unlock #87 Normally Open (Input)
Pin 6: Violet Black: Lock #87a Normally Closed
Pin 7: GREEN/ Black: Lock #30 Common (Output)
Pin 8: WHITE/ Black: Lock#87 Normally Open (Input)
Pin 9: Red: Constant +12 volt input
Pin 10: Black: Ground
So it appears that whichever the locks use, positive or negative) should be connected to Pin 5 and Pin 8. Then Pin 4 and Pin 7 are connected to the door lock/unlock wires at the harness.
I know this is a lot of info but I really need someones help.
Thanks,
Mike
PS... The wires at the kick panel are not the same as the wires inside the door. Does anyone know what color they change to once they enter the cab of the vehicle??
either you need to do a reverse polarity doorlock hookup in each of the front doors, or if you can find a DEI 455j box it will provide the vehicle with the appropriate voltages, and save you a bunch of time.

Think. It's not illegal yet.
The DEI 45j is for 1999 and up Jeep Cherokee's. I have a 1998 model.
The 455T is for the 96-98 Grand Cherokee. Good luck if you don't want to use a module. Lots of relays...
they ar 5 wire Use ORANGE / purple for lock and pink/black for unlock at the drivers door switch to operate the drivers door lock. Use BLACK/ white for lock and pink/black for unlock at the passenger front door switch to unlock all passenger doors. It is required to interface in each door even if the vehicle is equiped with keyless entry.
Can also use DEI part number 455t door lock interface control module. This will control door lock, unlock, arm, disarm, dome light supervision and more.
455t is the way to go...Sooo easy... But here is the door lock schematic...

Thank you everyone for your help... I went ahead and ordered the DEI 455T..... Hopefully I will be able to figure it all out from there.
I just wanted to take a second and thank everyone on here for their help. I got the DEI 455T in today and it was so easy to finish my installation. It was so simple.... Just two wires! I would recommend this site to anyone that's having any dificulties installing anything. You guys are the best.....
Forgot to to hook up the door trigger and this alarm keeps re-arming itself after 35 seconds of being disarmed, even with the door opened... I'm hoping it's because of the door trigger. Crossing my fingers cause that's alot of wires to pull out! LOL.
Again, thank you all!
Hooking up the Door Trigger will solve that...Or turn OFF that feature in programming...If you added locks...You m ight just want to turn that feature OFF anyway...You might set your keys down on the seat...30 seconds later...You just locked the keys in the car...But if you have a back-up plan...It's sorta a nice feature if your forgetful(but then you'll probably forget the back-up plan too...)
