Any recommendations on a bypass module for this?  Installing remote start.  Thought about going with the CANMX400 but I wanted to see what your opinions are.  Also would like a recommendation of where to buy one as well.  I know some of you guys sell modules as well.

I just completed my wife's 2009 G6, which is the same car as far as the wiring goes.

I used a Fortin CAN-SL2 along with a Viper 160XVL

The Fortin needs no programing, works right out of the box.

I had to call Fortin because I had a wrong connection and they helped me or should I say they told me what I had done wrong.

Most of the connection are done before you get to the car between the Fortin and the starter.

The biggest problem is to make the brake peddle connection. You are looking for a white wire in a bundle or wire with 5 white wires in it. I ended up taking the connector on the passengers side of the console and picking it up.

Hope this helps you.

So this thing needs 2 modules?  I thought the piece I mentioned did everything.

The CAN-SL2 is the bypass and the Viper 160 is the remote start.

About $50 for the bypass but I wasvery pleasd with it.

Just make sure to check that the CANMX400 does not need any programing of flashing after you buy it.

I think the downloads are free but you have to have a special cable/downloaded.

As I said the Fortin worked right out of the box.

the fortin will still require a simple programming, but no need to flash it for a proper firmware. It comes preloaded for all  vehicle it supports.

these cars are very simple, just program a circle plus key in a coffin(556u or astcbm) ign and accessory@ ign switch, brake, neg pk lites, power, horn and locks in right side of center console as long as your remote starter (audiovox, dei) uses the proper ign acc sequence(acc first, ign 2nd, acc drop while ign stays) car is very simple, ive never used the fortin or the idatalink piece as i use audiovox starters and do em this way all the time with no issues

I do a lot of this type car. I hardwire locks etc. I use a PKUGM2X usually. Very simple programing, put the key in turn it on for a couple seconds then remove it and remote start the engine-done.

Otherwise you have to install a key and resistor wiring.

this is the same way i install these. same way for a g6 or a cobalt(06 and up). this is the easiest way by far!

Working on an 09 malibu and I can't find the door trigger wire to kill the RAP after the remote start shuts down.  The 2 diagrams I have say it's either gray or gray/blk at the bcm.  I've tested them all several times and either it has 12v with the door open(gray/blk) or they don't switch and stay at a very low voltage after the doors are closed and the light is off.  I attempted to use a gray in the red plug at the bcm, which went to 12v after the lights turned off, but that didn't work.  I'm intalling a prestige aps-57.

Thanks.

just tried them.  no go.  They were in a flat gray plug. BCM  is on the passenger side of the center console.

Found it guys.  It was the gray black after all.  I must've tested it after the bcm timed out.  :-(
