99 mitsubishi mirage with avistart 4000

I have a 99 Mitsubishi Mirage purchased used with an Avistart 4000 already installed. The Car I started very rough and I noticed a disconnected gray wire dangling below the master cylinder that runs back to the avistart. The only other wire leading into the engine bay from this device leads to the Distributor/Coil (all in one). Any ideas to where this should go? The car does not have power door locks and the tie in at the dist./coil was done w/electrical tape & a cable tie...

Could be for the hood pin. Is it equipped with one? Does the car start with the hood open?

GONE t&t! No cigar for you, you of all people should know that grey or gray whichever side of the pond is Hood Switch! The other colour is probably PURPLE / white and should go to the coil side of the distributor.
For argument's sake, disconnect the wire at the distributor, when you wake up tomorrow, I'll have looked at my Galant for the wiring colour.(Or color).

The car does start w/the hood open and has no tach, so does that mean this wire was not needed and someone fed it through a hole in the firewall for no reason? Howie II wins the door prize for guessing the other wire, it was purple and white. Thank you all for your help thus far,

i would have guessed hood pin as well. Most if not all units put the hood pin wire as grey.

The car still floods, could this be caused by a malfunction of this device? How do I disconnect the Avistart 4000 from the car to eliminate it as a cause?

You obviously didn't read my post properly. Read the part where it says disconnect the PURPLE / white at the distributor. This will lose the R/S but at least this will eliminate the R/S from the car's performance.*
If the problem persists then it's the car, if it runs right then you need to pick up tach at either the tachometer or use an inductive pick-up such as the DEI 454T (at least that's what I think it is).
*Contrary to what your intuition might tell you, that's the only place where the car's running is affected. I've had similar problems with VW and Euro GM's which use an identical Bosch ignition/injection system to each other, never had this problem on Japanese which normally use Nippon-Denso, Mitsubishi or Hitachi systems.
