Is there any huge differance besides the cold/hot starting and a few differant menu options?
i have only seen the cm6000, never got a chance to install one yet.

the 6000 has locked Valet, Passive, and timer modes. Just like how Igniton Control Door locks are on the 5000. Also it had an Antenna Power Saver mode on the 6000. Option 4-13. This will drop the 30mA draw to about 10mA depending on what setting you use, either 1 day, 2 days or 3 days. It also has Auto detect mode for Fortin bypasses. If you plug in a fortin bypass using the RS232 port. Then plug in the main power harness to the brain. It will auto detect the fortin module. ..Hmm RPS is different, instead of knocking 10 times, its 5 times. Also the RPS can lock/arm the brain now just knocking on it 5 times (after you program the RPS of course). Uhhh defrost output is differenent. Also the 6000 has an input for the new 6pin antenna the 5000 does not. Oh most important the 6000 has a DAS sensor input. Coming soon.. Digital dual shock, digital tilt and g-force sensor.
Bottom line. Go 6000.

i installed the CM5000,and no complaints so far. Love the thing. I noticed the 6 pin antenna, isnt that for the PRO 2wssr models?
also, to comment, i wish i waited a month for the 6000, it looks like it packs all the goodies to compete with the new DEI lines.
anyways, I have been using compustar for a while now, but i never got around to finding out, you know the auto lock feature on the 900fmas, when you hold button 1,
it has AUTO1, AUTO2, AUTO3, and auto lock off. For 1 2 and 3, is that for lock/unlock range? for example, 1-50ft, 2-20ft, 3-etc?
too bad the 5xxx series dont have the temperature start, but i sure do like the blades, makes everything more neat and all in one.

as the auto number increases, it shortens the distance to lock and unlock.

The 5XXX series does have the temperature starts as well as the time starts. Also, with version 8.1, you have to update it with the CM6000 folder and not with the CM5000 as it will not allow you to do this when updating with the Compustar firmware updater.

I'll add a couple other minor differences. IIRC the 5xxx series changed one of it's plugs to a non-locking connection. I saw they quickly changed this oversight on I believe the 6000 series much to the happiness of the installers. I know that plug caused some wasted troubleshooting on one of my installs when it fell half-way out. Also, the 5xxx manual had a wiring diagram printed in the smallest text possible. I think the marketing department showed a sense of humor to answer the complaints by including in the 6xxx series systems a huge fold-out diagram with huge text.
oops, i meant to say it doesnt have voltage start, well at least that im aware of.
if it had the ability tostart if the voltage was low that would be a nice touch.
