2004 buick lesabre, code alarm ca 500

Hey everyone, this one is driving me crazy. I've searched the internet for a few days now, and have found nothing. Hopefully someone on here will be able to help me.

OK, here is the scenario. Stored mother-in-laws 2004 Buick Lesabre in our garage for the winter. Battery failed, so I replaced it. Car has a Code Alarm CA-500 that she had installed on it a few years back. It worked flawlessly before now. After the new battery was installed, I tried the remote starter and it acts as if it is going to start, but nothing. No grinding, just dash lights come on. From what I have learned from my research, I think it has something to do with the bypass module. The red LED on the bypass module blinks constantly. I have tried everything. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you try remote starting with key in the ignition but not turned on to rule out the bypass module?

Also, double check the hood pin. If you had the hood open to change the battery, it might not be making good contact or broke, etc.

Yes, I tried the key in the ignition. One thing I read about was to put the key in the ignition, press button on remote and then turn the key to "on", the car will start when I do this. I can then take the key out and the car stays running.

Oh, forgot to add. I have not checked the hood pin. I will check that when I get home.

Have you confirmed the safety toggle switch is in the on position?  I'm sure you have, but it never hurts to ask... 

One way to confirm your bypass suspicion is to insert your key in the ignition and try to remote start the car.  If it starts, it is most likely the bypass. 

What kind of bypass was used (make/model may help...)?

Sorry, I didn't post quick enough--

If the car has started with the key in the ignition, it would not be the hood pin.  the hood pin provides shutdown safety if someone should have the hood open when a remote start is attempted.  An open hood pin connection (or poor ground to the hood pin will not prevent the car from starting.

Sounds like the bypass.  can you get the Make/model of the bypass?

OK, here's an update. Got home and checked the make and model of the bypass. It's a Directed 1700G(DEI 1700G). I checked things out online and found the programming sheet. Did what it said for a Buick Lesabre and set it to 4. Now the darn thing will grind, but won't start. Man I am soooo close! Like I said before, this remote start was working perfectly before the car battery died. So I know that all the wires are hooked up correctly. Anybody now what I can try next?

-Remote start with key in ignition to verify same behavior and rule out bypass. (confirm you programmed it correctly)

-Try a valet override and see if the vehicle stays running.

Is the vehicle configured for tach or tachless operation? Might need to relearn the tach signal next.

this is from the 1700g install guide. If the module losses power, the module will recall its last programming but will need the ingition turned on and the engine started before it will begin to operate again

Not sure what I did, but I must of put in the right combination of program options, cuase I got it to start. Thanks for your help.
