lol I'm not into that stuff Howard ahah.

Jeff, its suppose to be a mobile integration onto the system that allows you to control the alarm via a cellphone. Its basically a smartstart from viper, but for compustar.

i just wanted to see if anyone had any info on it thats all. The official release date is on may 10, 2010.

Do you two realise how this technology is so last year? I'm currently fitting a vehicle tracking unit about 2" x 3" x 1/2", power ground, ignition hi and lo CAN and a neg output, configurable for starter cut relays etc. I can tell where you vehicle is virtually anywhere there's a cellular service, how many times its been started and stopped and of course where, doors opened, speed, high and low, and of course remotely disable it. Come to think of it we've had over here for 2 years a DEI product called Callguard which will do just about everything Smarstart does. P.S. 25 years ago when my car alarm triggered it made my wonderful old Moto 6500 ring me at home! (Or any other keyed in number).

Oh, I didn't know that Compustar named it a Drone. We've been installing tracking GPS and text start units for the past 2 years. The Smartstart from DEI is pretty slick, but only available int he USA right now. We use Titan Innovations for text start and they are working on an app currently to work on the iPhone and Blackberry.

Interesting Jeff, why only the US? You use the same frequencies, they've just launched it here but ALL the networks sell iPhones. Trouble is it works for the iPhone and Blackberry (Canadian company by the way) why not Android or MS Mobile or Palm?

the drone will work with androids, bb, iphones, any winows based phones.i hope it comes to canada ahah.

lots of things are released in the US way before they even reach canada.

It'll be compatible with all brains. Even other units. But with the CM-6200, and CM-6000 you will be able to use the RS232 Port. posted_image clowning

Howie,

Is there anything this available in the US that you know of?

We currently have a 15y/o in the house who will be driving soon. It would be nice to have one of these modules secretly installed in her first vehicle. lol Especially since she lives with her father who doesn't give a crap about her well being.

There are "domestic" versions available in the US, either self contained, last about a couple of days before recharge, or live, ign and ground, semi-permanent. Maybe Jeff or some others in the US know of products. The Clifford Call Guard that we have is a stand-alone and will give you all you need, don't know if it's available in the US.
Ref the last line, my daughter is going through a particular nasty divorce and we feel the same about the grandchildren.

Oke it's out, anybody more info about the data transmission. Can I restall a prepaid Sim card (so I can get this working in Europe.) I know it's not for Europe, but.... Same as the compustar alarms, you get them here by internet. Please help on this one, want to install it on my new S2000 and Accord Tourer. (So for sellers, need two of them....)

Personally better and nicer then the smart start of DEI. Good work compustar.

Gosephe, how are you going to make the tuner work in Europe? T-Mob and AT&T use 1900, not 1800 on the GSM side Verizon, Sprint etc. use CDMA which won't work in Europe.

Posted By: gosephe
Date Posted: June 15, 2010 at 11:52 AM

That's why I was asking what the possibilies are. I know the viper smart start si working in europe, in Germany they are selling them. Perhaps there's some sim card inside etc.

Compustar would need to supply a Euro GSM cell unit. Since they don't officially sell product here can you see that? Unless the unit they use is quadband. Don't forget DEI sold Callguard for some years here and never sold it in the US. Don't forget all the US networks except AT&T and T-Mobile don't even use SIM cards.
Incidentally Cobra of Italy had all these facilities about 5 years ago.

Mmmm that could be indeed a problem. altough the callguard 2 has been sold in the UK under the brand clifford. so for now unfortunally no options...
