I found it very interesting to find out that a coworker's Cobalt, a stripped version with no AC, manual crank windows, no power door locks, did in fact have power door lock actuators installed. Just no evidence of it. OnStar demonstrated that they were able to unlock the doors remotely, much to her amazement- posted_image

Anyone else find this a bit surprising that they would install a fully functional PDL system, but sans buttons? No doubt to simplify assembly by not having two separate builds.

And now the question- would it be a simple matter to tap into this to get the freebie? Either a single lock/unlock button at the driver door, or a remote to trigger it-

I'm afraid you're going to have the to probe this and tell us! If there are trigger wires the answer to your question is of course yes with a good old one pole two way momentary.

If OnStar is doing it chances are very good the BCM is controlling it.

Kind of funny seeing how OnStar advertises they can unlock your car if you are locked out, apparently even if you don't have "power locks" pretty amazing.
