Sup Everyone,
Wifey lost her keys with the remote to the Viper 5900 alarm installed on her 2000 Accord. I have a couple of questions;
Once i get a replacement viper remote, can the frequencies be changed so that whoever found old remote will not be able to disable the car alarm?
Where's the cheapest location i can get a replacement viper remote? Currently i see them for $70-$100 on ebay. Is there any place cheaper?
Thanks in advance

you cant change the frequency, but you can dump the remotes from the system so they no longer work. if i remember to delete all remotes, door open, ign on, press valet once. press 3 times and hold. it will remove remotes. ------------- Ted

best bet is search around. when you buy any replacement remote or accessories for a system, adding abit more and you can purchase a whole new system. ------------- Ted

She has the Viper 5900 which only comes with one remote. I was able to find the remote on ebay new for $80. Does anyone know if i can program it myself, is their a site that might possibly have the instructions?
Thanks

open a door, (Green or purple door trigger wires must be connected), turn on ignition, (ignition must be connected, press valet switch twice and hold on second press (valet switch must be plugged in), when you hear a single chirp from the siren, press the lock button of the remote, you should hear a long chirp immediately after, that indicates success, if however you hear a long chirp from the siren when attempting to enter programming you brain is locked and must be unlocked via a bitwriter!

Thanks, Thats what i was looking for. I have a simple question. Because my remote was lost i want to erase all transmitters before programming the new remote. The installation manual indicates the following;
1. Open a door.
2. Key. Turn the ignition to the ON position.
3. Choose. Within 10 seconds, press and release the Program switch the number of times corresponding to the desired channel listed below. Once you have selected the channel, press the switch once more and HOLD it. The LED will flash and the horn will honk (if connected) to confirm the selected channel. Do not release the Program switch.
The number of times i need to press the Program switch is 14 "Delete all transmitters**"
However it goes on to say, **NOTE: If any button from a known transmitter is programmed to Channel 13 (Defogger Control), all transmitters will be erased from memory and will revert to the default feature settings. This is useful in cases where the customer's transmitters are lost or stolen.
So am I to understand that the only way it will erase all transmitters is if my previous remote was programmed to channel 13, otherwise it wont be erased? The reason im asking is because i didnt have the defogger function set up with the alarm.

I'm sure that is just a misprint. I have and older Viper 571 where deleting all transmitters is channel 11 and the newer version is channel 12. There are two ** for the note of channel 14. I would go with that, you should get 14 short honks from the horn confirming the channel.

Thanks, What i was referring to was, **NOTE: If any button from a known transmitter is programmed to Channel 13 (Defogger Control), all transmitters will be erased from memory and will revert to the default feature settings. This is useful in cases where the customer's transmitters are lost or stolen. What if i dont have the alarm configured for defogger control (channel 13)?

I think the channel 13 is a typo error in the( ** Note:) section of that page. I was just giving an example of the same model (Viper 571) with two different manuals. Older 571 and a newer version 571. ------------- When all else fails, Read the Instructions

No what it's reffering there to is remote control over a function that may have been programmed for a specific button that was not intended for the particular purpose, so if you were to erase all transmitters and re-program new ones the remote would return to default setting and you may have to use a different combination of buttons instead of just one to access the same feture that you used with one button before! Know i didn't explain it well, but no worries just go right ahead and erase and re-program! ------------- COMMIT YOUR WAY TO JEHOVAH AND HE WILL ACT IN YOUR BEHALF.

I received the replacement Remote Transmitter for the alarm today. However there's a discrepency, on the Viper 5900 Alarm Manual it states the number of times i need to press the program switch to delete all trasmitters is 14. However on the replacement remote it says I need to press the program 11 times to delete all transmitters. Because my remote was lost i want to make sure im erasing the transmitters correctly before programming the new remote. Does anyone know the correct number of times i need to press the program 14 or 11?

These are the instructions listed in the Viper 5900 Installation Manual:
1. Open a door. 2. Turn the ignition to the ON position. 3. Within 10 seconds, press and release the Program switch the number of times corresponding to the desired channel listed below. (I believe this is when i press the program switch 14 times to "delete all transitters") Once you have selected the channel, press the switch once more and HOLD it. The LED will flash and the horn will honk (if connected) to confirm the selected channel. Do not release the Program switch. 4. While HOLDING the Valet/Program switch, press the button on the transmitter that you would like to control the selected receiver channel (im confused with this, i want it set to "auto learn standard configuration (default) how do i do this?). The unit will chirp to confirm that the code has been successfully programmed. It is not possible to teach a transmitter button to the system more than once. 5. Once the code is learned, the Valet/Program switch can be released.
Can someone with experience explain if by pressing the program switch 14 times as listed in step three will delete all transmitters? I want to erase the one that was lost.
Also can someome explain how I can program the replacement remote to "auto learn standard configuration"? < size=3 face=OfficinaSans-Book>< size=3 face=OfficinaSans-Book>

Yes dear pressin the valet switch 14 times will delete all transmitters, although i've never done it before (i always use a bitwriter, makes things alot easier), i'm sure it will, for auto learn, after you've erased the transmitters, turn on the igniion and press the valet switch twice and hold on the second press, when you hear a single chirp from the siren the depress the lock button on the remote, after this you should hear a long chirp. That indicates succes! ------------- COMMIT YOUR WAY TO JEHOVAH AND HE WILL ACT IN YOUR BEHALF.
