I own a 1973 Olds Cutlass Hurst/Olds.A mechanic had done a bad wiring job on my previous alarm.I purchased the viper 350 and am doing the install myself.I have a yellow, brown, red wire coming off of the starter.I really need information on how I can install the kill start relay correctly.I have power to my coil, but my starter wont turn over.I am not using the door lock mode nor the auto start, this is basically just for security only. Thanks for helping the old nubie out.

look for a green and purple wire from the unit. Cutt he start wire, green to keyside, purple to starter side.

wait! I'm confused! That system does not have remote start! Have you already interruped the starter wire? Be great too if you could clear up that last post as well!

I finally sat down and reread everything I had on my car and on the alarm. And all is well.At first I had interupted the starter wire, with the green and black wire on the relay.(wrong)My car is so old that alot of the wires were just straight black. So here is how I did it.I reconnected the starter wire.and then I did exactly what the directions said. You have to know which wires go where. As in ignition, and ignition switch. The thing that I had to tell myself is word association.Ignition switch,is the key switch, and ignition wire is the wire that lets power get to the starter to turn over the motor. The positive  ignition wire was my coil hot. I have yet to hook up my valet switch for zoning, but this lil alarm packs some neat tricks,it learns on its own,it will reset itself,my hood zone was not engaged, yet when I closed it all jup and reset the alarm, everything worked great.I am very happy with my job and it saved me $125 by installing it myself.Original cost was $255,I walked out the door with it for $130.And for all the rookies, have some patience, actuaqlly, alot of it.

I am glad I found and joined this web site.I plan to use it, and help when I can.Espicially if some one needs help with older cars.
