Am I correct to assume that when one of the Bulldog Security wiring diagrams states that a Parking Light Wire is: Parking Lights(+) - "color/color"(+), then they are Positive Switched if I tap into that wire?

Thought I'd ask and double check my limited knowledge before I burnt my wife's car to the ground.

never trust wiring diagrams. you can always trust your dmm if you know how to use it.

first of all what car are we dealing with?

Bulldogs' info  has been known to be wrong sometimes.  ( Their info on the 2008 Mazda 3 is suspect. )  I would definitly use a DMM or the Bulldog computer safe LED test light to verify the wire and its polarity.

Better safe than have an angry wife.....posted_image

Try to get info on the vehicle from a couple sources.  This site has a wiring section.  AudioVox has wiring info, its free, you just  have to register.  Here is their Web link:   https://techservices.audiovox.com/Login.aspx

Audiovox's site says the same with regard to colors. location, and polarity.

The car is a 2008 Dodge Avenger

The odds are improving but as Ted said, its always best to test and verify all connections.

I have documentation that says WHITE/ Purple in Driver Running Board Harness ( or drivers kick panel or rear body harness in drivers step panel ) from three other sources but.........     Use a DMM to be sure.  There could be 3 other WHITE/ Purple wires in that area.

Does this mean, though, that the parking lights are positive switched?

you will use the DMM to test the wire polarity when the parking lights are on.
FIND the wire, turn parking lights on through the car's swith.
Test the wire using DMM to see what it is.

All wiring diagrams are a "GUIDE" not a step by step instruction. You need to verify ALL wiring before making your connection.

Are you doing a remote start alarm system?

Case closed.

For the record, it is Positive Switched - in case someone else sees this down the road.
