I've installed an Ultrastarter 4500M security system along with an Omega transponder bypass unit. The alarm works fine under 'stop-n-go' feature (the tach wire and every wire connection seems fine), but the car cannot be remote started because the OEM's security system doesn't receive the bypass modules' signal during remote starting. I've tried a dozen locations for the bypass antenna around the starter collar, and even once I tried to place the original transponder key taped less than a centimeter close the key cylinder in order to fool the OEM security during remote starting. This works partially, since the car does start but sometimes (most of the time, actually) in the dash appears a blinking "key" icon, thus confirming that the taped key was read "partially" (my guess). Then I tried another approach, this time sticking the key into the cylinder (leaving it in the "OFF" position); the remote starter starts the car without fail and there's never "key" icon flashing whatsoever. My guess for now is that the key cilinder's transponder "antenna" is EXTREMELY unsensitive and will never pick up the bypass modules collar transmitter. Does anyone know if is there any way (other location, hardwiring, etc.) that can make this bypas unit work as intended? What can be used to measure (determine sucessul transmission signal) the transponder's signal? Since there's no real hardwiring for transponder signals I guess it's not the same as measuring electrical resistance or DC voltage like a normal connection would. Any advice woul be mostly appreciated.
Hello- we've had issues with the VW transponders as well. A lot of fooling around with the bypass ring got all of them to work. Try moving the key within the box also...good luck, Steve
