Does anyone have info on disarming the factory alarm on the 2010 Terrain. I'm installing a remote start and using one of the keys for the bypass instead of using a module.

ignition and transponder turning on at the same time will disarm the system.

Thanks tedmond.  ADS told us that they have a beta version of firmware for this vehicle, but it still requires a programmed key.  Howard keys has them for $33.

there are 2 types of bypasses available.

1) Key In Box - where one key is lost and placed inside the box to override the factory theft system
2) Programmable bypass - where one or two keys may be require to program the module, but no keys are required to be placed inside the bypass.

ads bypasses are often programming type bypasses. if you read the manual available online, it should say one or two keys required for PROGRAMMING.

I have installed Astros in 4 of these cars so far.

I haven't heard of a key learning bypass yet. I tried to wrap a key but that car came back with issues so I broke open one of the key fobs.

The switchblade key assembly is to large for any key insertion module I have ever seen, so I broke one of the orig key fobs apart to get the grid board out. I inserted that into the key insertion module and it works fine.

A new key costs about $50 and, of course, has to be ordered.

As far as disarm or factory security, I told the four customers that the Astro will not unlock doors if locked with factory fob.

I don't connect the unlock command with a pre accy/ign pulse because a lot of GM vehicles may give a fault code with this proceedure.

See a past thread of mine for more details, I think I just titled it 2010 Terrain
