I have looked but can not find an answer.  I have a 1992 Chevy Full size 1/2 ton with a 4.3L/ Automatic. I had a Bulldog RS102 remote start laying around and decided to install it into this truck. No problems installing it works fine. Problem is there is no electrical Neutral Safety switch only a mechanical safety switch in the key cylinder. So it will remote start while it is in gear.  D or R. Not cool!

The instructions with this remote start have a paragraph on using a relay with the Ignition Key Sense Wire From Ignition Harness to pin 86 of the relay and the hood pin wire to pin 30,  + 12 volt to pin 85, and pin 87 to ground.  The hood pin wire is connected and works fine in shutting off the remote start. Problem is there is no Key sense wire listed on any wiring diagrams for me to use.

This truck does not have an anti theft system. I only put about 1500 miles a year on this truck, mostly plowing snow from mine and the neighbors driveways and a trip or two to Menards for lumber, but I would sure hate to have an "AHH CRAP!!" moment.

Anybody have an idea?

if it does start in gear, if you shut it down can you still remove the key?

if no then you are fine because you still can only yank the key out if it was in park.

Not sure if this will help, but check out this info from the Bulldog RS1100 install guide at the bottom of page 12.

I will check out the idea from the Bulldog RS1100 manual and post the results. Thank you kreg357.

The procedure from the Bulldog RS1100 worked great!   With the key in the ignition, the truck attempts to start and shut down immediately.  No key in ignition and truck remote starts.  One small inconvenience is when doing key take over, the motor kills when the key is inserted into the barrel. Small, but better safe than watch the truck drive off somewhere while I drink my coffee..lol.

Thanks
