i purchased a Command FM-5005 combo car alarm , remote start online thinking it was going to be an easy install. After recieving the alarm i realized it was more complicated then i thought. i took it to a few places to see if the could/would install it but no one would. Now im left to do it my self, i was pointed to this forum for help. i have found alot of answers to my questions but i am still confused about a few things. here is a list of things on the instructions that i need help with. these are wires that have to be connected somewhere

ALARM

1. Ground when running

REMOTE START

1. Connect to ignition switch #2 (aux relay if needed)

2. Connect to ignition switch ACC. circuit (air cond./heater)

also , whats the difference between the Ignition harness and the Steering column harness? are they2 different things and where are they located?

and when something is refered to being at " driver side kick panel " is that the wires behind the kick panel ?

and my truck is a 1990 S-10 Blazer 4x4, thaks for any help or suggestions

ALARM

1. Ground when running

  • This wire is used for a bypass module or a relay that you only wish to have engaged when remote starting the vehicle. In your case you don't need this .

REMOTE START

1. Connect to ignition switch #2 (aux relay if needed)

  • If this is for the PRIMARY ignition then you need it to be attached to the PINK wire in the ignition harness.

2. Connect to ignition switch ACC. circuit (air cond./heater)

  • Connect this wire to the ORANGE wire on the ignition harness.

also , whats the difference between the Ignition harness and the Steering column harness? are they2 different things and where are they located?

  • They are both referring to the same thing.

and when something is refered to being at " driver side kick panel " is that the wires behind the kick panel ?

  • Yes, there will be some wires either behind or above the kick panel area.

and my truck is a 1990 S-10 Blazer 4x4, thaks for any help or suggestions

For those wires im connecting to the ignition harness do i just splice them into those wires? do i need to use any kind of relay for any part of the remote start ?and last question is is says for another wire to " connect to starter wire witch is powered only on cranking position" do i connect the straight to the starter?

i got the alarm hooked up and everything seems to be ok , i was just unsure about these things with the remote start, thanks again

you can find the starter wire in the ign. harness......STARTER|yellow or purple.

use a meter to check your wires....

if its for the alarm, you wont need a relay....
if its for the remote start you might....what part of the unit are you talking about???........

The best way to connect the IGN wires is to use solder and electrical tape. The only relay you will need for this vehicle is for the door locks & if you wanted to install a starter disable circuit . For your last question , yes connect this wire to the starter wire of the Chevy.
