Hi Guys

Newby here and newby auto electrician too.

Just purchased a basic car alarm to stick on a 2001 Fiat Bravo but looked at the very unhelpful guide and decided I need help.

To start with where would you normally put everything?

The siren obviously goes in the engine bay but I have a control box with separate shock sensor and emergency over ride switch that both plug into the box as well as the LED.

I could also do with a wiring diagram for the Bravo showing me the best place to connect the alarm wires to the:-
1. ACC trigger
2. Engine cut off
3. Hood/Trunk switch
4. Interior lamp output
5. Window rising output
6. Trunk
7. Siren (I know where this is :))
8. Side door triggering (-)
9. Side door triggering (+)

There is also the central locking element that needs connecting but that has just totally confused me. What is the difference between a positive and negative trigger? Also what electric motor is it talking about?

The alternative would be if there is anyone near Peterborough that wants a beer or 3 :)

First, I wouldn't touch a Bravo, it's one step worse than a Citroen/Peugeot!
Second, your locks will be neg, find the body control computer, I know the Punto but honestly, part of the job is working things out for yourself.
Try phoning Cobra, they know the car better than any one else.

Assuming you are the proud possessor of a DMM, your lock trigger wires are white and light blue, front door return cables, your indicators are light blue and light blue/black. Ignition wires are pretty obvious in the ignition loom where you should also pick up the indicators.
Door contacts are BROWN / black neg, boot (trunk) is BLACK/ violet, at the trunk. Ignition is orange but TEST all these wires, I'm doing this from memory. What alarm are you installing?

Couldn't get to the site, assume it's a fleabay product rather than a regular branded product, if so don't waste your time, you're on an expensive and frustrating learning curve!
Stick to Clifford, Viper, Hornet, Cobra, Sigma, Scorpion or Toad.
You won't need an ign/starter cut anyway, the car has a transponder. First rule unless it's a Cat l is on any post 97 Eurocar, don't cut any thing!
