I used to do tons of installs years ago, but have been "out of the game" for about 3 years now. But I'm doing a remote start on a 2003 Ram for someone and I can't remember about the parking lights. All the diagrams say to grab them at the switch and use a 330ohm resistor. But if my memory serves me right, I used to grab them under the hood as a positive wire and no relay or resistor was needed. Does anyone know about this? If so, where and what color wire is it?

sorry heres the note....

NOTE *1 the (-) Negative PARKING LIGHTS on this vehicle will require a (-)Negative thru a 330 or 1400 Ohm Resistor and an extra Relay part #775, to connect, See DIAGRAM

so you will have to wire a relay like this..

85- (-) output from mod

86- (+) 12v Fused

30- This is going to go to the Parking light (-) wire in the back of the headlight switch with the 330 Ohm resistor

87- (-) Grounded

if the Mod puts out a (+) signal then..

pin 86 will be the output from mod

pin 85 will be grounded along with 87 together

if using the negative parking lights you will actually need to isolate the wire. cut the purple / YELLOW and wire relay as follows

pin 87 connect to ground with your 330 or 1.4k ohm resistor inline

87a  switch side of purple / YELLOW

30 car side of pur/yel

85 parking light output from remote start

86 +12V or ground depending what type of output comes from the r/s

thanks for the correction.. :-)

I know about the resistor and relay method. What I was asking is isn't there a positive wire under the hood where you can tap in and no extra relays or anything is needed?
