power window switches

I have an '09 reg cab silverado and recently had power windows installed in it. it was the work truck model with manual before they were added. had them installed at a local shop and they installed a SPAL Delux window kit with switches from AEW(model JW-31RS). The switches were ugly and not really what i wanted, not to mention they put them at the rear of the armrest not the front but that was another problem.

so i look up the company that makes the switches and find out they had a switch kit(JW-39TO) that was similar to what i wanted in the first place. They are the push/pull type not the bulky arrow looking kind they installed. i ordered those parts and put them in myself after talkign to AEW. they both used the same wiring harness for each and are interchangable according to them.

so i move the switches to the front of the armrest, hook them up and test them only to find out that when i push down on the switch, which should roll the window down, it rolls the window up. same for when you pull it up, it rolls it down. since the previous switches didn't say up or down but just had arrows that looked alike, is it safe to assume that they just have the wires to the motors reversed or is it something else? below is a wiring diagram for the switches.

any help would be appreciative. i would take it back to the shop that did the work at first but i have lost confidence in them.

The easiest fix for that is to reverse the wires at the motor.

that is what i thought but i'm not the best with wiring stuff. will it have a negative impact on the motor or is the way it is wired right now bad for it? thanks for the help.

The motor is expecting to have ground on one leg and power on the other to go up.  To go down it switches the other way.   This will not hurt anything.  It reverses to go the other direction.  It has no idea if it is going up or down.

Changeover the terminals marked L and G in your diagramme as Mr. I says.

gotcha guys. thanks alot for the info. i was thinking that was what was going on with it. i was thinking it was like a light switch that is in the on position but remains off, doesn't hurt just isn't right. thanks.
