Subject: viper 5902 remote start problem

I am finally almost completed with the alarm installation on my 88 honda crx.

Everything appears to operate correctly except the starter kill function. I have cut the starter wire as described and connected the starter output wire to H3/4 (violet wire(car side of starter kill)) and H3/5 (green wire(starter input key side of starter kill)). When I try to start the car with the key, all Honda dash functions work properly, but the starter does not crank. If I disconnect the wires and just hook up the starter wires, the car starts normally. Also when I try to remote start with the hd control, it states "remote start not available"...

Can anyone provide assistance to troubleshoot this problem?

Thanks

Here is how I've wired the H3 Harness...

h3/1 - ignition

h3/2 - constant 12v

h3/3 - accessory

h3/4 - starter output (car side of starter kill)

h3/5 - starter input (key side of starter kill)

h3/6 - constant 12v

h3/7 - constant 12v

h3/8 - not used

h3/9 - constant 12v

h3/10 - n/a

Some more info..

I've tested all the wires with a circuit tester pen and all wires work, except the violet H3/4. Even when I attempt to start the car with key there is no power coming from that wire. I have checked the H3/5 Green starter input wire and there is power as I try to start the car. Just no power coming from H3/4 to the starter...???... Could it be the brain that is the problem???

H3/7 should not get 12v it goes to the 2nd access or ignition if applicable to your vehicle.  h3/2 powers it and your diagram states you have it to 12v.  is the alarmed armed when you try to start the car with the key or disarmed?

H3/7 should not have a constant 12volt try connection with the H3/1. H3/9 can also be the input to the starter

The alarm is not armed when I try to start the car with the key.

Okay... I have now connected H3/7 with H3/1 and I'm now getting "Invalide Pulse Count"  on the remote when I try to remote start... Also I don't see why H3/9 should be connected to the starter input?? Though I did test it out and there is no results...

Overall it's still the same, the Violet (Starter Output) still have no power... ??? Help???

You should not need to use H3/7 since you do not have 2 ignitions

I have H3/3 to the Yellow Accessory wire. Seems to be right since all the research so far states to wire H3/3 to Yellow and probably I'll wire H3/9 to Accessory 2 (Blue/White).

You have a blue/white? Sorry this wasn't listed on the 88 CRX wiring diagram. Blue/white is normally ignition two (at least in my car) and should goto pink/white.

Well from the installation I do have a blue/white, I know the crx don't have a second ignition, and as stated by the crx wiring diagram I got from best buy and websites the blue/white is the second accessory.

But here is the wiring info for 88-91 crx;

Ok you should not need to use the orange wire off the remote start. Hook pink/white to Yellow. I don't know what goes to blue/white.

So is it H3/9 to yellow? or H3/7 to yellow? because re-reading the post you said to put...

H3/9 to Yellow

Still no luck...

I think the brain is bad... because H3/4 Violet (car side of starter kill) is not sending or getting any power when I try to key start the car.

Isn't H3/5 supposed to send a pulse to H3/4 to start the car when cranked with the key???

If you're not getting voltage on the starter side of the relay whilst starting with the key, and you have it connected to the starter wire at both ends then yes something is wrong with the relays in the brain!

Sending it back tomorrow for a new one...

Thanks again..
