Hi Guys,

I just finished installed a Viper 5701 into my Pulsar GTI-R. Everything seems to work fine, besides the remote start. It doesn't want to start when its cold, the starter motor just keeps going off and the engine just struggles to start. It will start if i try it a 2nd time but it will still struggle.
It starts perfect when the engine isn't cold.

Does anyone know what would cause this problem?

Before anyone says its because my car has cold start issues. The car starts fine when using the key. I find this very confusing....

How many Starter wires did you connect the Viper to?  Many Nissans have 2 Starter wires and if you don't power both you will get the condition you described.

I've only connected the wire from the ignition barrel. I wasn't aware there was 2.
I wouldn't think that this is the problem because since the starter motor doesn't seem like its down on power. It sounds like it wants to start but it doesn't.

I'll have a look at my vehicle's wiring diagram and work it out from there.

Thanks!

We haven't had a Nissan Pulsar in the states since 1989.  Here is a link to the Bulldog Security web site:  https://www.bulldogsecurity.com/bdnew/vehiclewiringdiagrams.asp   Check out Note 1 at the bottom of the 1989 Pulsar listing.

If that is similar to yours, look for another BLACK / YELLOW wire in the ignition harness.  Audiovox lists the second BLACK / YELLOW as Ignition 2...

You MUST power the second starter wire, it is a "fuel Enrichment" wire, for cold start.

Thanks for that...

Just to confirm while I'm at work, all i have to do is connect the pink/white wire to the 2nd starter wire? and then re-program the unit to set the pink/white wire as 2nd starter instead of ignition 2?

Yes, H3/7 Pink/White to cars Starter 2 wire and then re-program Viper for Starter 2 output from the Flex relay ( Menu 3, Menu Item 8, Option 3 ).  Don't forget to attach H3/2 RED / White to +12v constant.
