switches, 07 chverolet cobalt

I put in aftermarket door lock acuators in a 07 chev Cobalt they work great but I want the Doors to lock when the vehicle it shifted into drive. I know how to wire relays but they give a constant power, ground, etc.   I need a type of switch that will send a ground signal once then shut off  so that the acuators are not getting power all the time and burn up.  some type of momentary switch?         2nd How would you wire an alarm to  go off a second time after its 20sec time limit or make the horn not go off till you hit a hidden switch, I don't care if it kills the battery.   3rd how do you wire led lights to flash when the Sub woofers hit.  

I think you should research some of the aftermarket add-ons/modules/accessories.

I think having the doors lock when the truck is shifted into drive is going to be tricky unless your cobalt has all the provisions used on the factory power door lock cobalt. The vehicles computer typically handles what your trying to do.

Why would you want a triggered alarm to never stop sounding the siren/horn? If a triggered alarm doesn't deter a thief or attract attention in the 30 or so seconds then an hour of honking or siren blaring won't do any better. People adjust to and ignore constant background noise (which is what your never ending honking/siren will become). And honestly if the thief is brave enough to hang on while the alarm is going off they'll have your alarm killed within 10 minutes and be off with your cobalt.

On the third q you can wire your lights in with your subs input terminals to make them light up.

the alarm in my 04 tacoma went off one morning when I spent the night at my mom's house and the neigbor heard it go off but he said it went for like 20 sec then went off so He thought I disarmed it. Mean while some one Keyed both doors very deep and they need to be repainted.     So I want the alarm to sound for at least 2min Coz I'm a sound sleeper and coz the truck got broken into again 2 days after it got keyed at another location and they cut all the wiring to the alarm and other wiring.   So when I wire a car now it gets all black wires and blends in with the factory wiring.  

What about wiring the door locks so you cant lock them when the doors are open coz my wife has locked her keys in the car more than I can count.

I wired a alarm once to only sound the horn when the power wire was cut to the alarm   but it made the relay energize at all times which got very hot.  any ideas on how to do it another way?

one of my friends that moved away and I cant get a hold of   made push buttons for door locks etc. like the ones to turn the Playstation 3 on.  where do you get those touch sensitive buttons?  

Get an alarm that can be programmed to sound for more than 30 secs. My old hornet 554T can be programmed to sound for up to 3 minutes. You can wire up all black wires but it makes it very difficult to attempt to troubleshoot any issues. A better solution would be to tape up all the wires and blend them in with the factory wiring. With a clean professional install you can't tell what's factory and what's not at a single glance.

You can use a relay to accomplish the door lock issue (cut power to the lock switch when a door is open). My preferred method is training her to use the key fob and not even touch the door lock switch when getting out.

They have battery backup add-ons to keep the alarm active even when power is cut/battery disconnected. If someone is able to cut power at the alarm module on your installs then either your wires/alarm were too easy to get to or they were brave enough to spend a good amount of time working on the wires with the alarm going off....Most professional and determined thieves will cut power at the battery, cut the horn at the horn, or cut the siren at the siren--why because it's easiest and quicked to find those three and disable them.

I know you want to protect your ride like fort knox but you gotta realize no matter what you do and install there are no guarantees that someone won't be able to steal it. Hell you can take all 4 wheels off and put it on cinder blocks, I'd still be able to steal it with a flatbed tow truck. Not that I steal cars but a good installer knows how thieves go about stealing cars just as a good thief knows about alarms.

Clifford G5 models with Intellistart can be programmed to lock on RPM rather than ignition, you have to put the engine under load or 3 x idle speed before the doors lock. I believe Compustar also does this.
Why would anyone leave a key in a car any way? I pulled a BMW factory alarm in 20 mins today, all out. I doubt if anything you could install would take me that long, I do this for a living. Hide the alarm control unit, use the same looming tape as the vehicle manufacturer, use a battery back-up siren, place a second siren inside the car.

I mainly use alarms not to keep people from stealing it but to deter people from taking what I have inside my vehicles.   I asked the questions so I can tinker, rack my brain and be different than all the regular stuff you see all the time. I mess around with a 07cobalt and a 04tacoma so I can intergrate all that I learn and make up into a 76Chevrolet K10.        ANY ONE KNOW About the Touch Sensitive buttons LIKE A PLAYSTATION 3. They can lay perfectly flat and there is endless possiblities.

What about the touch sensitive buttons interests you? The technology has been out for a long time (think apple ipod).

But yeah if you get into designing electronics you can do some pretty trick stuff. 12v installers generally don't get into custom stuff like that. For most the aftermarket scene provides everything they install.

Custom work gets you more money, and gets more respect. the touch senstive buttons would work great in a car coz instead of rocker switches window switches that rock you could just mount them anywhere for a clean look.     I saw them in a dash once and when you unlocked the doors the button had a led that flashed.  the same guy  took l e d  Christmas Lights seperated them into individual LEDs then took lexen glass and drilled holes in the glass then was able to mount the leds in the glass then was able to put them where ever he wanted them like lighting up your license plate. He even made a few blocks that mounted to a sport bike one even had a built in heat sheild for being next to the exhaust.  instead of buying all those light kits at autozone etc that are expensive it was a whole lot cheaper and was trick.  

Yeah custom work does pay better because it takes more time. Touch sensitive is a nice novelty to play with but for something like power windows tactile feedback is lacking and makes them difficult to use while driving--You have to look and push touch sensitive buttons, you can't just reach, find, and flick.
