OK, so I wanted to start installing my Clifford Avantguard 4 today. I decided to get the Smartwindows before starting the install. I called my friend to see if he had one and he said he did. I went and picked up the Smartwindows, but I didn't notice that it was the Smartwindows 2 instead of theSmartwindows 4. Am I correct in saying that I need the Smartwindows 4? Or can I use the Smartwindows 2 module? If I can use Smartwindows 2 would I loose any options or anything like that? Thanks

The SmartWindows 2 is a pretty old unit. I remember installing them in the early 1990's, and I just found a used unit in my misc box.
Don't get me wrong, the SmartWindows 2 is a good unit, but has since been upgraded to the SmartWindows 4. Not sure about the differences in options though.
Even if the SmartWindows 2 is brand new and your friend will warranty it, if it ever takes a dump on you, you may need end up upgrading to the SmartWindows 4. Not sure about the harness compatibility.
To make a long story short, I would try and get the most recent unit.
