how to turn on heated seats

i have a 2006 mini cooper s with a compustar alarm and remote start installed. anyone know how to activate the heated seats upon remote start? it doesn't appear that it's a straight-forward apply +12v or ground to a particular wire....

any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance

Can you get to the harness at the seat?  Can you tell how many wires go to the heater?  How many settings does it have per seat? 

the harness at the seat has 3 wires that closely match those coming from the switch. the switch has a total of 5 wires, 3 of which appear to be the same wires at the seat harness based on their colours and thickness. 1 is GREEN/ purple (16 ga), 1 is brown (20 ga), and 1 is GREEN / WHITE (20 ga).

the GREEN/ purple appears to be the one that i want, based on it testing +12v when pressing the switch, but it only shows +12v for a few seconds at most, and does that for both high and low settings.

the switch as 3 settings:
- 1st press turns on high pwr
- 2nd press switches to low pwr
- 3rd press switches back to off

the switch is non-latching, you can tell which setting you've reached from the lights on the switch that turn on or off.

With the seat on low, test the voltage on the GREEN/ purple wire, but this time place the black meter lead on the other 2 wires that go to the heater.  One at a time of course.  Try the seat on both setting also.

I think you will have to go to a wire actually at the seat, the switch will go to an ECU where the "latching" will take place. This is where you need a wiring diagramme.

  If the seat heater switch is momentary, you can usually control the seat from the switch wire.  Haven't done mini seats, but I have done others.

You will usually see 5 wires--these are something like:

Switch illumination

Actual seat heater switch output (pulses to ground as swtich is pressed)

high indicator

low indicator

ground

I would remove the switch, and probe the swicth wires with a multimeter or test light to find the actual switch ouput, which should show as a ground pulse during switch depression.   For remote start, this is the wire you would use to activate the seats.  If you want to hook up both seats, you wold locate this wire from both switches and diode or them together -- make a "y" with 2 general purpose diodes, connecting the bands together in the Y,  The individual diodes connect to the seat switches, the common to the Remote Start control.

Ur right it IS. Heated seats in the winter is ok but SUMMER?

i much rather install in the summer than the winter so why not do it now
