Hi guys,
I recently had a viper 5901 alarm with remote start installed in my 2001 Audi S4 6speed manual. I took it to a local shop and it took them a while to install the remote start, but everything seemed to work fine. After taking it home, I tried to remote start the car while it was locked, and it started but the factory alarm would go off. If I unlock the car and then remote start it, it works fine, but I dont really feel comfortable with that since I like to start it as im walking to the car. Anyway, I took the car back to the shop and told them about my problem. The guy spliced a wire in the trunk to the factory alarm and it started to remote start normally. As I was leaving I noticed that none of the windows were working. Went back and the guy said 'oops' and put it back the way it was. Weird thing is, after that the car was still remote starting while locked without the factory alarm going off. I repeated it about 4 times and it worked without activating the factory alarm. The mechanic was surprised and was looking at me like I made the whole stock alarm going off thing up, since he said he hadn't changed anything, but I didn't really care since it was working. I get home and leave the car for a little while and then try to remote start it, and once again the factory alarm goes off. Im like wth!!
Anyone have any experience with this? Its not really a major problem, but is an annoyance. Im thinking the stock alarm needs to be bypassed and the only reason it was working at the shop is because the stock alarm was reset.

also a side question: my internal shock sensor is faulty, so I will be sending the 'brain' to DEI for repair. What is the proper way to remove it? I will be leaving all wiring and sensors in place. Can I simply unplug it or is there more I have to do? I have searched but couldnt find a clear answer.

The factory alarm should arm/disarm with lock/unlock but they would have to find a way to disable the factory shock sensor.Hopefully someone chimes in with a better answer.As far as removing the brain,you'll have to reconnect your starter wires and make sure you tape up the plugs so they don't short against something.

If you unplug most alarms, you do not need to reconnect the start wire. You will have to disconnect the brain and see if the car still starts. It should, if it does not start you will need to find the start wire that was cut, and connected to a relay, and reconnect the 2 cut ends of the wire.

This fix is super easy. Have the installer hookup the factory disarm wire from alarm to the door unlock wire. Definately the installer needs to install diode inline on unlock output wire coming from alarm brain and factory disarm connection should be made downstream of diode.
Also may have to program alarm to disarm before or while starting
1st pulse to unlock wire disarms factory alarm 2nd pulse actually unlocks the doors

Also your brain has a 4 pin MUX input. Just add an external shock sensor and be done with it
