I am trying to install an xk01 module in my 2005 chevy cobalt. I have flashed the module to the correct firmware that is compatible with. I am supposed to hook up the violet data wire to pin 2 of the obdii connector, but there is no wire for pin 2. only pins 1 4 5 6 14 and 16 are filled. I contacted customer support about it and they just told me not to hook it up. Is there another wire i can attach it to or is this unit not usable in my cat.

thanks

Make sure your looking at the obd2 from the front for pin 2. As far as I remember if there is any purple wire in that plug that's the one.

I think you should be using XK06 for that vehicle.

I'm not installing a remote start, I was just using it for the doorlock and trunk interface since I had it.

Also, there are no violet wires in the obd connector. green, black, BLACK/ white, tan/black, tan, and RED / white are the only colors there

Is that a Class2 or a CAN data module?

Use pin 1 dark green for your data

Hmm, it still doesn't work with the pin 1

It's connected to BCM C2 pin12

can you get the xk01 into program mode?
seems everything you're doing is correct; your unit may be defective

The instructions state that i can program modes 8 and 9. I was able to enter the programming mode and change the options through the remote but that did nothing to make the unit work in the car.

never mentioned, but what are you installing that requires the xk01?
how is it connected to the xk01?
d2d or w2w?

He wants it for door locks and trunk.  He doesnt need that interface.

Yeah, I don't really need it. I just figured since I have it I should use it. Also, I haven't done much with relays before so I thought this would be easier. Oh well, thanks for the help and fast responses.

Understood but what brand and model system are you using with the XK01?
D2D?

With the amount of time invested it may be easier to pick up the two wires at the BCM. The door locks are a single wire resistive system.
Lock = White = ground @ BCM pin#6 or 7 of C1 connector.
Unlock = same wire as lock = ground through 1.5K resistor
Trunk release = Tan = ground @ BCM pin# 10 of C2 connector.

It's an Amenity re4 module and it was hooked w2w.

Also, I have the door locks working by tapping into the white wire directly like you said.    I want to hhok up the trunk release, the keyless entry sends out a 300 mA negative pulse so I imagine I would need a relay for that, right?

correct you should use a relay to ensure that it works consistently.
i think you may have a defective xk01.

If u don't mind me asking, what's the correct way to wire the relay?

You dont need a relay for the trunk pop, the module sends out a ground, and the BCM needs a ground to trigger the trunk pop.

If you DID want to use a relay... 85 & 86 are the coil to energize to activate the relay, so one gets + and one gets -

Then.. whatever you're sending into #30 (yellow).. will come out #87 (brown) when the coil is energized.

BTW WITHOUT the coil energized, whatever you're sending in 30, will be comming out 87A, and when you energize the relay, that connection is BROKEN and 30 will come out regular 87
