Need Some tips & how to's on fixing my Turn signal on my 1991 Ford Explorer. A Diagram would be nice if there is one. Both L & R turn signal do not work, Funny thing is that my 4 way flasher works fine. I've already checked the fuse box. I'm tring to save myself the labor charge of taking it to a shop if it's something I can do my self. Need Some Help :errr:. Anyone. Thanks. E-mail me at Anton7201@hotmail.com ------------- Anton1

I had that happen to my old 87 ford truck.....signals would not work....if i pulled the hazard lights(4 ways) on then off...mysteriously the signals would work again?

did you check the flasher?
prob. not the problem but a $1 fix if it is
Also in a lot of Fords for whatever reason the actual headlight switch would burn out - could cause this problem
test the switch with a multi meter to see if you get power to the signal lights
do your parking lights work?

Dumb suggestion, but maybe there's more than one bulb in each housing....one for the flasher and one for the hazards? I guess it couldn't hurt to check...maybe one is blown.

Check the flasher its probably in one of the fuse boxes not allways. Most vehicles use different flashers for the turn signals and for the emergency flashers the bulbs are the same. Jeff G. ------------- Jeff G.

If you can find both flashers, first verify that they are the same type....probably a 552. Then, switch them around with each other.
If now the turn signals work but the hazards don't, you've got a bad flasher......if the problem stays the same, your flashers are probably good.
Also, if something is wrong with the hazard switch, the turn signals might not work. Try carefully holding the hazard switch in a little harder, or releasing it outward slightly, and see if that gets the turn signals to work.
Also, I know you said you already checked the fuse box. But get out the owner's manual and look through the Fuses section carefully. Sometimes, a particular feature of the car will depend on more than one fuse to work...you should check all fuses that might control the turn signals.
