i have a 2001 grand am gt. am looking at installing a viper 5901. what do i all need to install this. i currently have a astrostart remote starter in my car but am just going to take that thing out. am thinking of getting the xk01 but am not totally sure what that all does. if i get that will i only have to wire up the remote starter part. should i even bother getting a expresskit, since all the wires should be going to the remote starter i already have. thanks.
if there is an existing starter in the car, no need for any additional bypasses or modules. just trace the wire back, test to make sure and connect and solder your new wires.

ok thanks. i was kind of thinking thats all i would have to do anyways. since every wire should be their all ready. am just going to look at the install manual for the remote starter that is in thier already, which will pretty much tell me what every wire is.
i am installing a viper 5901 in a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am Gt. when i press the remote start button it will, try to start three times but it won't start. i can start it by key tho. what am i missing. i can't figure it out. thanks
ok i got everything all working now. remote start works great. am messing around with the shock sensor and its not giving me the results i want. am thinking of getting a 504d. is it worth getting. or do i just need to remount my brain in a better location.
am also looking at installing a window module. should i get the dei 530t or are their cheaper modules that give the same result. i want to do the sunroof and atleast the front windows.
mount your brain to a metal piece with velcro or use an exteral shock and zip tie it to a large wire harness. the internal one in the brain should do the trick.
the 530t is the the only one i have used befor and it works great. lots of companies make modules for this purpose but prices are all over the map.
