I have a 2000 dodge dakota. I installed an aftermarket alarm several months ago and have had no problems the other day my factory alarm armed and i cant get it to disarm. Any ideas on how to bypass the factory alarm

Ok what i would do is test the Factory Alarm Disarm while using the key to unlock the door.

FACTORY ALARM DISARM

  BLACK/ ORANGE (-)

 IN EITHER KICK PANEL

Find the wire in the kick panel and take a DMM set to 12v DC and get the red lead on a 12v constant(use a fuse or the 12v constant wire at the ignition harness) then probe the BLACK/ Orange wire while unlocking the door.  If the DMM doesnt say 12v when you are unlocking, i would say the switch has gone bad.

One of the more senior members might be able to add to this.
