I'm in the process of installing a Python Responder 1 system into my 3.5RL. The keyless entry does not work while the car is running, but I would like to bypass that while the remote start is active (or disable it altogether). I have the factory service manual, but I haven't found anything that looks promising.
Hopefully the rest of the install will go off without a hitch.

I would also appreciate any suggestions with using the 555D directed module to bypass (the RL is listed as an application on many sites, but the included documentation is only for the prelude)

The 555DW should work. The color of the wires is slightly different.
The Data wire is White instead of BROWN / Yellow, same pin location.
The Ignition wire is still Yellow/Black, same pin location.
The Starter Enable wire is WHITE/ Red instead of Light Blue, same pin location.
Not sure on the Gray wire...
The factory keyless entry will not work while the car is running, with key or under remote start. Most people install a remote start system that has keyless entry built in, and then just use the remote start FOB for everything. Its just a matter of connecting two more wires. ------------- Soldering is fun!

Some vehicles have a separate keyless entry module, as far as I can tell about your vehicle, you are not so lucky. With a separate module, it is sometimes as easy as cutting the ignition wire from the module so it does not know the ignition is on.

The keyless entry module is located in the back of the car behind the rear seat, however the wiring pinouts I have are for troubleshooting the lock/unlock/trunk etc. functions, which seems to include a databus input. :(

I know I should have done a full system, but I didn't think about the limitations of the factory unit, otherwise it would have been just fine.

I've decided I'll send this one back and get a full blown two way unit. Any suggestions? I'll be off searching.

as longas you get a brand name unit, you will be fine.
