2007 dodge nitro remote start

Hi everyone, ijust got a dodge 2007 nitro for my wife and she asked me if could install a remote start. i have done remote starts before so im not so cluless about them but this one is a little more advance for my skills. can anyone tell me whats the best way to install it ? and whats the best remote start i can get for a decent price..thanks

All depends on what she wants.  One way, two way, LCD FOBs?

The more important item is the bypass.  My choice would be the ADS iDatalink ADS AL-CA with the ADS AL(DL) CH5 firmware.  Cost is about $60.  This one module will do a lot for you especially if your Nitro has the factory alarm.  Here is a link :  https://store.idatalink.com/index.php?l=product_detail&p=20  Download the CH5 install guide to see the items supported and the wiring necessary.

Both items can be found on EBay or Google them.  Remember that the iDatalink module comes with no firmware loaded so get it from a dealer that will flash it with the CH5 firmware for you before shipment.

The iDatalink module is controlled by the remote start unit and will take car of the cars ignition immobilizer, door locks, trunk and alarm system all thru 4 wire connections to the car.  It will also supply the remote start the tach and brake pedal signals.

The remote start brain will still need to be connected to cars +12v, ground, horn, hood trigger and  parking lights ( along with all the connections to the ADS AL-CA module detailed in the iDatalink CH5 install guide ).

Additional parts you will need:   some 8 amp diodes,  a 1 amp diode and a inline fuse holder with a 5 amp fuse.

There are other good remote start units and some bypass modules that will also work.  My suggestion is based on price, availability, ease of install, features, ease of programming and reliability.  Remember that all the high end remote start companies ( DEI, Compustar, Ultra Start  etc. ) offer a life time warranty "if and only if" it is installed by a authorized dealer.  Also getting tech support from the manufacturer is only available to authorized dealers.
