I need some help with installing a Code Alarm by audio vox, model CA 6550. For the alarm system wireing directions it has 2 wire for a door trigger. One is positive and one is negative.

For my car wireing charts they only have one wire they say to use for each door.

So do I use only one wire from the alarm system? If so which one? Can I just cut the other one not in use if I donnt need it?

Thanks a bunch

Your Grand Prix has (-) door triggers.  You will use only the (-) Door Trigger Input to the alarm.  Insulate and secure the (+) Door Trigger.  You will need 4 diodes.  They are available at Radio Shack.  Here is the the wire info from Bulldog Security for your car:

NOTE *3 the DRIVERS DOOR is a GRAY/BLACK (-) Pin 26, the PASSENGER DOOR is a BLACK/ WHITE (-) Pin 17, the DRIVERS SIDE REAR DOOR is a LIGHT BLUE/BLACK (-) Pin 7 and the PASSENGERS SIDE REAR DOOR is a LIGHT GREEN/ BLACK Pin 5 all are at the BCM Connector C2. When connecting to an ALARM SYSTEM, use all (4) DOOR TRIGGER wires and DIODE ISOLATE. to connect, See DIAGRAM

Here is a link to the diagram with the diode wiring:  https://www.bulldogsecurity.com/diagrams/extrainfo/diagrams/7141_GRAND-PRIX_(-)%20NEGATIVE%20DOOR%20PIN%20ISOLATION%20CIRCUIT.pdf

Thank you kreg.
Now i am stuck with trying to install a WHITE/ blue wire called EXTERNAL START INPUT (-). Says the wire will activate the remote start function when a ground pulse is applied to it from an external device.
Where do i hook this wire in my car? do i need the wire?

another thing i am stuck on is the car alarm system came with some sort of relay. it has a red wire, black wire, orange wire, and a white with blk strip on it. my install manual doesnt show this being part of my install at all.

I looked up some info on relays and stuff, i found it looks like a STARTER KILL RELAY.
If so how do i install this thing? Is there a diagram i can look at?

To open my trunk i have to hold the unlock for a few seconds.
Also, i tried to install the trunk opener. i used the light blue wire my car wire chart told me to use. i tried it out and all it does is unlock the doors. The door unlock has different wires to use. i haven't even hooked up the door unlock wires yet.

Thanks for help

I suggest that you seek professional help to install this.
Kreg has correctly answered your first question, the WHITE/ blue, insulate and tape it up, you won't be using it.
As for the starter kill relay:-
Armed out put (GWA wire, possibly orange?) to 85,
Ignition, 1 (live while starting) to 86'
Starter wire from key to 30 and wires from remote start,(starter output) and othewr side of cut starter wire to 87a.

Amateurs assume, don't test and have problems; pros test first. I am not a free install service.
Read the installation manual, do a search here or online for your vehicle wiring before posting.

Hello everyone,
i just installed a ca 6550 code alarm in my 04 pontiac grand prix. Everything works fine.
When i start the car with the remote start i hear a ticking noice behind the fuse box.
When i put the key in the ignition, turn it to run and puch the brake the noise stops.
It doesnt make the noise unless i start it with remote start.
My guess is a relay ticking.
Anyone have any suggestions? If its a relay ticking why would it? what can i do to stop it?
thankyou

Nope the parking lights don't flash. They are on like they are suppose to be. That's why I am confused.
