Hello there, I was wondering if anyone has done a remote start install on a 1990 mustang gt. Any wirning diagrams specific for this car? Last remote start (Prestige aps996) had a relay . Do I need a relay with this install. Can I just install the wires where the manual states? I got everything going but just dont wanna burn the brain if I do the romote start wrong. Thanksposted_image

Ok, my bad, I should have been more specific. I do not need the wiring diagram for the switch harness.  I got door lock, alarm, trunk etc connected on the other pins. Just on the H3 (Remote Start) 10 pin connector. I need help for the following wires quiestionmarks. With words, I git connected so far.

                                                                                    MANUAL DIRECTIONS

H3/1        PINK-------------------------------------------(+)IGNITION INPUT/OUTPUT--------------------------------------------? <DOES THIS ONE CONNECT TO A + LEAD ON THE IGNITION?

H3/2        RED / WHITE----------------------------------(87)FLEX RELAY INPUT (30A FUSED)-------------------------------?<RELAY?

H3/3        ORANGE--------------------------------------(+)ACCESSORY-------------------------------------------------------------ACCESSORY

H3/4        VIOLET-----------------------------------------(+)STARTER OUTPUT----------------------------------------------------STARTER>SIDE OF CAR(WHITE/ pink)

H3/5        GREEN----------------------------------------(+)STARTER INPUT--------------------------------------------------------STARTER>SIDE OF KEY(WHITE/ pink)

H3/6        RED---------------------------------------------IGNITION 1 INPUT(30A FUSED)---------------------------------------IGNITION(Yellow-Always Hot)

H3/7        PINK/WHITE----------------------------------(30)FLEX RELAY OUTPUT-----------------------------------------------?<RELAY?

H3/8        PINK/BLACK----------------------------------(87a)FLEX RELAY INPUT-------------------------------------------------?<RELAY?

H3/9        RED / BLACK-----------------------------------ACCESSORY/STARTER RELAY INPUT(30A FUSED)------------?

H3/10     NOT USED.

Thanks Guys, as soon as I get this sorted out, I will post a whole wiring diagram for an 87-93 mustang 5.0 with basic alarm, door locks, trunk release

and remote start. On another note, I connected H1/11 (WHITE wire) to brown wire at switch harness for parking light output for the parking lights to flash but nothing happens, do I need a relay or did i do something wrong?

anag7771, here is a working wiring for a towncar, should give you an idea: (something what i've been sweating on for weeks)

H3/1 PINK (+) IGNITION 1 INPUT/OUTPUT (BR/PK) connect to a wire hot in START-RUN
H3/2 RED / WHITE (+) FUSED (30A) IGNITION 2 / FLEX RELAY INPUT 87 (connect to BR +12 constant)
H3/3 ORANGE (+) ACCESSORY OUTPUT (BK/LG) connect to a wire hot in START-RUN
H3/4 VIOLET (+) STARTER OUTPUT (CAR SIDE OF THE STARTER KILL) (DB/O) hot in START
H3/5 GREEN (+) STARTER INPUT (KEY SIDE OF THE STARTER KILL WIRE) (DB/O) cut this wire to have an antigrinding feature
H3/6 RED (+) FUSED (30A) IGNITION 1 INPUT (connect to BR +12 constant)
H3/7 PINK/WHITE (+) IGNITION 2 / FLEX RELAY OUTPUT (PK/BK) connect to a wire hot in START-RUN
H3/8 PINK/BLACK (+) FLEX RELAY INPUT 87A key side (if required) of FLEX RELAY NOT CONNECTED
H3/9 RED / BLACK (+) FUSED (30A) ACCESSORY/STARTER INPUT (connect to BR +12 constant)
H3/10 NC (no connection) NC
__________________

as you can see H3/2 , H3/6, H3/9 are connected together to big +12V constant wire.

H3/1 , H3/3, H3/7   are +12V outputs to power your ignition coils, ECC, oxygen sensors, Air condition blower and selector. You need to study mustang wiring diagrams to figure these wires.

And avoid hooking up an accessory circuit like radio, windshield wipers so they wont come on with remote start.

Obviously H3/4 and H3/5 is easy, you need to splice your starting wire which energise starter relay, and pass it through Viper.   But if you dont want antigrinding feature you dont splice the wire and only hook up H3/3.

Also be careful with diagrams, i found a mistake in an original paper motorcraft wiring manual, one wire was wrong color.

i meant above: ".....dont splice the wire and only hook up H3/4. "

Ok guys, sorry I havent posted for a while but I was out working. I finally had the chance to install the remote start on the mustang. The wires go connected like this.

RED, RED / WHITE and RED / BLACK go to the yellow wires on the ignition switch *(NOTE) I cold have tapped them all to one yellow wire but did two(red) on one yellow wire and  the other(red) to the other  yellow wire just for satety not to overdraw ampereage on one wire and burn it. Mustangs got two yellow constant +12 wires.

Purple-->to the WHITE/ pink wire to the car side of the starter

Green-->To the WHITE/ pink wired leading back to the key

PINK--->to the RED / GREEN wire of the switch harness

PINK/WHITE--->to the BLACK/ GREEN wire of the switch harness

ORANGE AND PINK/BLACK NOT USED......tape them up!

< size=1 face=OfficinaSans-Book>< size=1 face=OfficinaSans-Book>

the BLACK/ WHITE (-) NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH INPUT goes to the blue/black wire inside the center console leading to the hand brake

After you wire the car, set the car to automatic transmission mode IF you have an automatic and thats it....you can use the switch on the antenna or buy a programmer for about $80 on ebay like I did.

This works for me and I assume NO responsibility for your installation, do so at YOUR OWN RISK and if you have any doubts, please just take it to your local installer and have it done professionally.

OK after getting the remote start installed, everything works fine BUT lets say I wnt to get into my car to take off to work while the remote start is still going........wait, alarm wont unlock the car until remote start ends.

I have to open it with the keyposted_image the last alarm (prestige) I was able to get into my car even though the remote start was going and of course, and it would deactivate the remote start with the handbrake but stay on with the key to go to work.

Could it be a programming issue? Thanks.

And sorry guys, on the line "After you wire the car, set the car to automatic transmission mode IF you have an automatic and thats it"

I meant to put                     "After you wire the car, set the ALARM to automatic transmission mode IF you have an automatic and thats it"

Have you connected the brake light feed?

The brown wire (brake shutoff)from the 5901 to the +positive brake feed, yes i have. Unless there is another wire I am not aware of.

The brown wire should be connected to the wire that goes pos when you press the brake but I think you've done that correctly or it wouldn't R/S in the first place.

Also is there a second ignition? Have you tested for it that you haven't connected up? That might explain it.

This might be clutching at thin air but change around ignition 1 and ignition2 and connect the orange to the acc.

Ok so it may be the brain unit, I installed a second unit on my other mustang with the same connections and it works perfectly, and no I dont have the orenage acc wire connected on both of the cars, they are only to run the AC or Heater when on remote start. I am gonna swap both brains and confirm it. I will keep posting. And I have also e-mailed the directed electronics support website.
