That resistor is used on multiplexed 1 wires systems on Polos and Transporters from 03, also Mk V Golfs. Not Mk lV.
You have two wires in the loom in driver's door going from lock to door control module that sits next to the window motor.
When no factory windows, the locks are controlled from the under dash "comfort" module.
Have you checked the lock outputs from your alarm and is it a 650 or a 650 Mkll? Mkl 650's will need diodes on the locking outputs, also does the factory remote lock and unlock?

its a 650 mkI. the lock/unlock wires run through a 451m relay box ive tested both lock/unlock from alarm and are both lighting up with feeds when i lock and unlock with fob.

OK you've pre-empted my next thought. Have you set the 451 up as purple and PURPLE / black to ground, WHITE/ black and BROWN / black not used and GREEN/ black and blue/black to wires in the door? Did you also ground out the two wires you need in the door to test that they are the ones?

yes ive got the 451 exactly like that and yeah ive found the 2 wires on the door. the lock wire is yellow/blue and unlock is YELLOW /GREEN. when i earth the lock wire with tester doors lock and when i add the 180 ohm resistor to tester and touch the unlock wire the car unlocks but when i add the wires from the clifford the car locks using the fob but wont unlock even though when i test the wires from clifford they both light up. is it the resistor?

I've never used a resistor on a Mk lV

is there any other way around this or is there something wrong somewhere? could there be a problem with the actual alarm box?

Have you tested the blue black from the 4451 module? Is it going to ground (earth) when you press the arm button?
And I did say factory remote before not the key.
Also set it for double pulse unlock (installer programming).
Forget the resistor, which incidentally should be 1k not 180ohms.

That's why they're not for DIY. You don't need the Wiz, just your 4 digit valet/pin number. PM me with your email address. I don't normally help people in the UK 'cause it's taking the food from my mouth.
