Hiya all. I just picked up the 5902 and planning to do the install within the next week. Have designed/built and installed my car pc from the ground up before, so i'm pretty comfortable taking this on.

Searching on here before I bought this, it seemed like the consensus was zone 4 sensor input could be used without programming via Bitwriter. In the quick reference sheet that is included with the brain, they list the default setting for zone 4 as "Sensor Type: None" and it is a bitwriter-only option.

I have a DEI field disturbance sensor that I was planning on connecting as zone 4. So now i'm a bit confused about the bitwriter requirement. I'm sure one of you could clear up my confusion. :)

Thanks, and I may have a few questions down the line here.

One other thing I just noticed. In the wiring guide on here for the 04 Wrangler tachometer, what does "Set 2 Cyl" refer to?

Tach: Blue/Tan [ECM Passenger side Firewall] Set 2 Cyl

I believe the "Set 2 Cyl"  is guidance for a remote start tach configuration setting for a particular brand ( AudioVox ?? ) remote start.  The Tach wire color and location is all you really need.  Most remote starts ( Ultra Start, Compustar, Viper, etc ) will learn the signal OK.

Soldering is fun!

Thanks for the reply, that would make sense.

On another note, I was able to find the 5901 install guide on here which is pretty close and a great resource. Sounds to me that the bitwriter is only required to change the ICON for the zone 4 sensor, as long as it's functional it's good enough for me.
