I just installed Viper 5901 with XK05 into my sequoia 06 and it works great. I am just wondering what happens if for some reason the XK05 module is not working. Would I still be able to start the car with my key?

Since the module cuts the IMI data line there are chances the vehicle wouldn't start, it depends on which state the relay remains when the glitch occurs.

The best way to avoid taking any chances would be to use a solution similar to the following one which doesn't cut wires.

I saw the idatalink module after I bought the XK05 so I had to use the XK05. Maybe I should put a switch between the cut wires in case the XK05 has problem then I can just flip the switch to reconnect the wire so that I can still start with the key.

This can be helpful if such case would occur. It could also be used if you want to run some tests in the vehicle without the module plugged in.

Don't forget a detail, if you forget to flip your switch off the vehicle will refuse to remote start due to data collisions on the IMI line.
