my sister inlaw has a 2004 malibu classic. it keeps having the typical passkey problems. cranks and wont start . then leave the key on for 10 minutes and maybe it will start.

I have a dei 555t that came from an old un-install and would like to use it if i can to permanently disable/override this silly system.

is it going to be possible with this unit? if so, does anyone have a schematic for the 555t and some good instructions on how to install it in this particular car?

if the 555t is not compatible, what would be my best route.

the car is bone stock and has had no after market electronics added to it.

i have dealt with the first passkey systems and did the resistor thing years ago but this is my first dealing with PK2.

thanks

The 2004 Malibu Classic has the Passlock II immobilizer while the 2004 Malibu has the PassKey 3+  immobilizer.

You should double check the ignition switch and wiring to be sure.

If it is Passlock II, here is a recent post that should help you :  https://www.the12volt.com/installbay/forum_posts.asp~TID~123309~PN~2

Is there anything stamped on the metal shank of your key, just below the rubber head?  Like PKIII+ or just "+"     what some people call a "chip" key.

From the symptoms though, it sounds like you have an old Passlock2 system.

thanks for the responses,

i cant check it out today, maybe wednesday. from what i have found the 94 malibu classic like hers is a PK2 and the malibu maxx is a PK3. and it looks like newer than those are PK3.

mabe i can just tie a resistor in and not even have to use the 555t or anything else.
