Installing a Python 991 w/ remote start, and the remote start works fine, but when you try and start the car just using the key in the ignition, I get nothing. You can here a click from the relays each time you turn and then remove the key.
The PATS device lights up when you put the key in the ignition for several seconds then turns off, just as it says it should.
When I remove the purple and green wires that run to my cut starter wire for starter side/key side, and reconnect my starter wire from the ignition, the key works just fine.
What am I missing...

Is the starter motor side and key side on the proper sides of the cut starter wire ?

I cut the starter wire (RED / lt blue). On the end coming out of the connection to ignition/steering coloumn, I attached my "key side" wire from the remote start alarm harness. On the other cut end that runs under the dash into circuit box/starter I connected the "starter end" of my remote start alarm harness.
The remote start works off the keychain keypad, I would assume if these wires were crossed this would not be so...?
...and it shouldn't be fuses since I can reverse this whole procedure and start the key with my factory truck key.
Pretty much my starter is not engaging what-so-ever when you turn the key.

Your starter relay is either engaged or bad. Connect the trucks starter wire back together(like it originally was) and attach the "starter side" wire to it also(connect the "key side" to nothing). This should allow everything to work except the alarms starter kill...

Is it safe to assume the starter relay is engaged, and not bad, because if it was bad, I should not be able to start the truck when everything is connected how it originally was?
I will try this real quick and update in a few. I guess if this works, then the question is how to fix it to not have to do this.

Connected without key-side and it works. Very strange : )
I am guessing if someone sets off my alarm and starts the truck, my starter will not shut off now... with it configured this way.
This is my first alarm install, and the remote start issue is the only part that has had me "trying" this or "doing" that without any resolve, all day! Driving me nuts not being able to narrow it down. I had thought it to be a issue with the PATS device when the lights were not blinking as they should when key inserted, but after fixing that issue, the problem still existed. I rechecked all my grounds, same thing. There are only a few wires that rely on starter related issues, so after eliminating those, it only leaves relays or fuses, which I still would not see being an issue since thr truck will start now with the truck wires as it is, or wires without the starter alarm wires connected.
Is this a programming issue for the PATS device?

Nope, not a Pats issue or the factory security light would stay blinking when you Rs the truck. Right now you have no starter kill on the alarm due to this issue, but it does still have the PATS stopping someone from stealing the truck.
As for what the real issue is, my guess is the relay is bad... ------------- Mike M2
