Hi all,
i am currently researching to install the viper 5902 in my 2000 audi a6 with manual transmission. So far i have figured out most of the wires but i have a few questions left that if anyone could answer that would be fantastic. just to say i have installed 3 remote starts before, all just basic start/stoppers and all with automatic transmissions. So this install is a bit more complex both as in the car, the RS and with the manual transmission.
im going to use the starter kill so i will just cut the starter wire and solder the violet and green wires to the correct ends, however in the wiring diagram for my car it says i have a starter 2 wire (blue), there is no blue wire in the main harness next to the main starter wire (RED / black). there is however a blue wire of thin gauge in the harness next to it, is this my 2nd starter wire? its of thin gauge so i dont understand its purpose. The install note says these 2 wires must be connected together to the rs starter wire to help in cold weather? Can i test this blue wire, if so how?
i think i have figured out the lights as this rs can isolate the circuit (parking lights, white to lights, white brown to switch. i will connect the dark blue h2/10 wire to the clutch switch and the neutral wire to the hand brake wire. However on my wiring diagram i cannot find the colour or location of this hand brake wire so if anyone has this info and also the rear defogger wire that would be great.
sorry for the story, but i hope someone can understand what i mean.

I've never known them to have a second starter wire in Europe, test the blue wire on crank with a DMM.
Don't join, cut the red black and use the flex relay as second starter output if needed.
There are two ignitions though.
The best way to by-pass this car's immobiliser is to use a 556U with a black valet key available, programmed from a dealer, the 556 wired to European vehicle spec., i.e. no loop.
You might have nightmares picking up the locks, normal i.e. in the driver's kick well is OK but this doesn't give you deadlock or window close depending on year, find the lock wire, neg pulse, extend the pulse to see if it closes the windows, it depends on the year.
All door contacts can be picked up at the body/factory alarm module either under carpet in front of driver's seat or right hand rear in trunk area.
Definitely a non-DIY job.

Parking brake, BROWN / black, the blue is the alternator lead, irrelevant.
Find parking brake at rear of instrument panel which is the easiest place to pick up the ignition feeds and run cabling across.
WARNING If you remove any components, do not turn on the ignition, you've been warned.
You will find lots of conflicting info, this is because according to my wiring source, some electrical systems were changed 4 times from 95 to 02!

thanks for the advice and help howie.
on my model i do not have an immobiliser, it was just before the cut off date for this i believe, so that parts easy. thanks for the blue wire heads up, ill leave that alone then and just connect the 1 starter wire through the starter kill. Not sure what you mean if i remove a component and then turn on the ignition?

+1
if anything is disconnected, do not power up ignition, the system will do a self diagnostics, notice devices are not connected and check lights are going to pop up everywehre.
with that being said, most of the stuff can be grabbed under the seat at the secu (i beleive tahts what they call it) but its very tight. you should run wires and have the brain in the dash area. I attempted an a4, and howie gave me some pointers, but it was def not a diy car. it gave me trouble as well. ------------- Ted

No transponder? European market Audis had them from about 93, it's highly unlikely unless you've already tried a hot wire with the key removed about 10ft. from the vehicle.

yep, my 2000 audi according to my owners manual, bently manual and online research, my car does not have an immobiliser. over here in canada and the u.s we are well behind europe as like you say had immobilisers in the early 90's. if you still dont believe me check out the link below.

so far all is going ok, still gotta find that park brake wire, there is like a billion of them in there.

hi,
yes you did tell me the park brake wire, sorry but i did overlook that, so thanks. i hot wired the car and it runs fine, so thats the immobiliser question sorted. i just now have to find the lock wire and i will try to if like you say extending the pulse will roll the windows.

hi again,
just a quick update in case anybodys interested.
All is finished and i am well pleased with the result. took me a while from start to finish as i had a bunch of other stuff going on at the same time and this wasn't my priority. i basically worked on it in the evenings every now and then until i was happy. while i was doing the install i also had my lcd screen fixed (sent away) and replaced the window guide in my drivers door as it rolled up real slow ( fixed it so i could use the viper window roll up feature)
i hooked up the window roll up and down which is more of a quirk than anthing else but still a cool feature. i also wired up the front headlights and reverse lights as an auxilary function which lights for 30 secs. i added a turbo timer button too, so the car runs for 1 minute after shutdown to cool off my badboy turbos.all i all was pretty easy to do, just takes time to find the right wires and correct wiring info sheets as most are wrong even those given to me on here. I soldered EVERYTHING so that too takes longer. no bypass module needed as my car does NOT HAVE AN IMMOBILISER as i also got told by a million people that it does. so it goes to show some models are different so test every wire first.
if anybody has any questions on this car or viper model just give me a shout and i will try to help out.

I'm glad it all turned out well for you, now you see why installers hate Audis! I'm known here as the BMW King yet I still hate Audis, they are so hard to do and so complicated compared to BMWs.
Sorry about the immobiliser confusion, it's just that in Europe, EVERY car or light commercial (up to 3.5 tons) sold on or after 01/01/97 had to have one PITA!

no probs howie, i appreciated all of your help. its good when guys take the time to help others even when there is no gain in it for them. you are often on here giving good advice. you are right about the audis, very time consuming, espiecially to do it right but still glad i did it.
