What are you trying to achieve, I could do this from memory but it's identical wiring to the same year's 5 series.

Here we go:-
12Volts RED / green or RED / blue ign switch loom.
Ign Light green x 1.
Starter, either light GREEN/ thin black or black primary x 1.
Acc purple (violet) wire as 2nd igniton or the vehicle won't start.
Dome lights (all doors and hatch) RED / blue, POS. at under dash floor lamp.
Lock/unlock 2 blue primary colour wires at switch in driver's door NEG and extend lock pulse to comfort close windows/roof. The only slightly tricky part of the job.
Tach black wire, pin 9 ODBll A.K.A. data link connector adjacent to under dash floor lamp. Or black at rear of instrument panel.
Hood switch already there, PURPLE / green.
Lights. As E46 and 5 saloon, we go to the indicators in Europe.
Special note. Use a 556U wired to Euro spec. and
ONLY use the grey valet key in it. Using the regular key will spoof remote locking and start.

getting ready to do one of these myself...

HOWIE: what do you mean if you dont use the gray valet key it will spoof the remote locking and start?

how hard is it to run the wires into the drivers door to hook up locks?

For one thing ,it won't lock or unlock from your aftermarket remote when R/S is used. The regular key "talks" to all the ECMs even though it's in the by-pass box.

Dead easy if you know how, i.e. don't even attempt to go through the door tube, car side drill a hole on the shut side and of course grommet and seal.

Loosen off lower door pad, remove switch panel and run cable(s) over speaker and out through door grommet and tube.
The whole installation apart from mounting the siren can be done from under the driver's dash, no need to touch glovebox which is a real pain to get back.
