I did a self install of a clifford 590.2x remote start alarm system into a 2001 Chevy Silverado. I was using a dlpkgm bypass module. I tried hooking up wire to wire and d2d with the jumpers on the alarm set horizontally for d2d and vertically for w2w. I could not get the bypass unit to program. I followed the instructions and when I turn the ignition switch while holding the programming button on, the solid led never blinks and immediately goes off. When it try to remote start the vehicle it tries to start but just as it starts it dies like the original security alarm shut down the fuel rail. if i remote start the vehicle with the key in the on position it starts fine and runs until i step on the brake or shut it down. on a side note one of the reasons a put an alarm in it is because the factory keyless entry stopped working. Could the factory keyless entry be giving me problems?  I am also unable to control the door locks through the new alarm system. I checked my wiring with a dmm and have solid connections to the door lock / unlock wires under the dash at the brown plug on the bcm.

Thanks for you help

Rob

If you are going to run in D2D mode you should get the door locks working first.  ( See DLPKGM programming Step 5.)

Your truck is Type A (+) door locks.  Does / can the Clifford alarm output +12v 10A door lock pulses?  Most system can't and require relays to convert their (-) pulses to (+) pulses.  Here is a diagram ( 3 wire positive )   :  https://www.the12volt.com/doorlocks/page3.asp#3wp

If you want to run W2W, aside from the Clifford jumpers, you must run 2 wires in place of the D2D harness and the White (-) While Running wire.

Also make note of the DLPKGM connector 2 warning about plugging it in upside down.

I feel like a fool. I think that is my door lock problem. I will wire in the relays and get back to you. thanks for the quick help.

okay. I hooked up the relays for the door locks and they now work fine. But when i try to programm the bypass module I can't get it to program. I follow the steps for d2d and at step 5 i press the door lock on my remote and put the key to the ignition position. at this point i wait for a flashing LED which never comes. if i try to start the vehicle it wont until I unlock the doors (or disarm the alarm). I have only two wires hooked up from the bypass the pink to the ignition and the purple to the #2 pin on the obd 2 connector. When I tried w2w i added the blue and white for the status to the alarm.

thanks

Possibly a dumb question, but at Step 5 are you pressing the Clifford remote Lock button?  Sounds like the DLPKGM is not seeing the +12v on the Pink Ignition input wire.  Might want to check this with a DMM.

In W2W mode ( which I prefer ) aside from connecting the (-) While Running wire, you should remove the D2D harness and connect the +12v power wire and the ground wire in its place ( as shown in the install guide ).  In W2W mode you can skip Step 5.

I am not a Clifford person, sorry can't help much on that end.

there are no dumb questions as far as i am concerned but  yes I am pressing the lock buttion on the clifford remote. i checked the pink ignition wire and i get 11.57 volts when the key is in the on or running position and 0 volts when the key is off. I tested it at the plug right before it goes into the dlpkgm bypass box. In the wire 2 wire mode I have a seperate harness which is grounded to the chasis at the same place the alarm is and has a seperate +12 source.

as for clifford alarms it is essentially the same as a viper 5902 with a different style key remote and 1 less wire I think it is the 2nd door progressive output.

thanks

Rob

The truck has the Passlock 2 immobilizer system.  Have you tried another bypass module or the old reliable "Relays and Resistor" method on it?    Here is a link :  https://documents.audiovox.com/700054.pdf

yes I tried a canmax 400 originally but thought maybe it was a bad box before I tried the dlpkgm -- I had flashed the canmax to the current version but also had problems progamming it. I have tried it again after getting the door locks working without much luck. I guess i will try the resistor relay method or find an installer near me to help. I did notice that one of the jumpers was broken on the alarm unit and i found another one i could use off a motherboard. but that didn't cure my problem either. I wonder why something so simple should be so hard?

now while trying to program the bypass the remote start no longer cranks the engine. the truck starts fine with the key. I can enable the remote start while the key is on and remove the key and it will remain running. But it will no longer crank the starter. I do not get a 12 v pulse on the purple wire coming out of the flex relay. I am puzzled as to why? I didn't change wiring from before except for switching bypasses which should have anything to do with the starter output. everything else works great including the door locks.
